DO’S AND DON’TS WHEN USING THE IPOD CARTS SCS GUIDELINES iPod use is a privilege -- not a right! Abuse that privilege and you can (and will) lose your iPod time. Follow the Acceptable Use Policy regarding appropriate searches and computer use. REMEMBER Intentional abuse or misuse of the iPod will result in disciplinary action. BEFORE USING THE IPOD CARTS Make sure your hands are clean (and go wash them if they aren’t!) No sticky or dirty fingers on the iPods. Make sure that your desk area is clear of any unnecessary items such as notebooks or extra text books. If you have a cold, ask for a kleenex from your teacher. No sneezing on the iPod :-) IPOD ETIQUETTE (HOW TO ACT) Ask for help before you try to “Fix” something. Never touch your neighbor’s iPod. Don’t get out of your seat with your iPod unless you are told to. GETTING AN IPOD Always get your assigned iPod unless a teacher tells you other wise. Unplug the power adapter and gently pull the iPod out of its spot on the cart. If you teacher allows you to carry the iPod, be sure to use both hands to carry it to your desk. If your teacher brings you your iPod, don’t touch it until he/she tells you to. When your teacher tells you to, you may press the home button on your iPod to wake it up. MEET THE IPOD Front Back (iPod #) Sleep/Wake Home Button Volume KEEP THE IPOD SETTINGS AS THEY ARE Don’t change the iPod settings. This means don’t change the wallpaper or background screen of the iPod. You should not move any apps around or create any folders. Doing so may result in you losing iPod privileges for not following directions. You may change the volume of your iPod if your teacher gives you permission to. Volume USING THE IPOD Use your iPod on top of your desk. To wake up the iPod, push the home button on the front of the iPod. Use only one finger on the iPod screen to. Never use a pencil or any other object on your iPod screen. TROUBLE WITH AN IPOD? Remember, don’t try to “fix” it yourself. Let your teacher know so that he/she can make note of it in the maintenance folder on top of the cart. WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED Press the home button to close the app you are using. If you turned the sound off while using the iPod, turn it back on when you are done. Press the sleep button to put the iPod to sleep. Sleep/Wake RETURNING THE IPOD TO THE CART Return your iPod to the cart when directed by your teacher. Be sure to carry the iPod with both hands as you did when taking it to your desk. If your teacher is collecting your iPod, leave it on top of your desk while you wait. Place the numbered iPod back into its numbered slot on the cart and plug in the charger. RETURNING THE CART Students may not return the cart. Teachers must do this. Once it is returned, please make sure that it is locked, plugged in, turned on, and charging (switch will glow orange). REMEMBER Be respectful and responsible and always listen for directions. Use the iPod properly to keep it in good working order! Always wait for instructions from your teacher! DON’T open apps you aren’t asked to. NO FOOD, GUM, CANDY OR DRINKS when using the iPods - EVER!!!! HAVE FUN LEARNING WITH TECHNOLOGY! Thank you for helping us keep the iPods in great condition!
