Deschutes Recycling Guide Glass – Recycle in designated location Clear and Colored Glass Bottles & Jars. Rinse clean. Labels are okay. No need to separate by color. No dishes, glasses, ceramics or window glass.
Corrugated Cardboard – Recycle in designated location Flatten. No waxed or slick coated cardboard.
Commingle Materials – Recycle in designated location • Newspaper- Anything that comes in the newspaper can be recycled with the newspaper. Please remove any string or banding. • Magazines, Catalogs, Phonebooks • Plastics– Rinse clean. No need to flatten. Acceptable Plastics: Plastic bottles and tubs 6 ounces or larger (except those containing hazardous products or motor oil). Rigid plastic such as yogurt containers, butter tubs, sour cream, cottage cheese containers. Nursery plant pots 4 inches or larger, plastic buckets of 5 gallons or less, milk jugs - not flattened. Non-Acceptable Plastics: Bags and film, foam/expanded plastics, large items (i.e. toys), bottle & tub lids, trays, clamshell containers, which are what produce depart ments sell raspberries/strawberries/blueberries in. Bakery containers, “Biodegradable” plastics, cups, plates and silverware, blister packaging and any plastics smaller than 6 oun ces. • Tin/Aluminum– Cans, jar lids, foil, TV dinner trays and beverage cans. Rinse clean. No need to flatten. • Paper Bags • Mixed Paper Junk Mail & Paper – Paper, envelopes, white & colored paper, computer paper, tin can labels, wrapping paper (no foil or ribbon), shredded paper (strips only, no confetti). No paper ream wrappers, tissue paper, waxed paper, candy wrappers, snack food bags. Paperboard – Cereal/cracker/shoe boxes (discard liners), soda & beer cartons, paper egg cartons, paper towel tubes. No frozen food boxes, paper cups/plates/towels/napkins, pet food bags.
Urban Wood – Recycle in designated location • Decking, fencing, used lumber, painted lumber, plywood, particle board. • No treated lumber, no railroad ties.
Yard Debris – Recycle in designated location “IF IT GROWS, IT GOES!” • Grass clippings, brush, weeds, plant prunings, branches, stumps, pine needles, pine cones and sod. • No rocks, dirt, garbage or plastic bags.
