GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The DS 84 Power Injector is designed to boost the 48V DC power of an “intercom Out” line of a DS 88 hub. The unit is powered by an 48V DC adaptor, to be connected to a 100 – 240 VAC mains outlet. DS-84’s are usually placed in the 19” rack which contains the DS-88 hub. Multi-channel speaker stations are designed to be powered via a local mains outlet.
It is also possible to power these station types via the intercom line, but the available 48V DC “string power” is often not sufficient. For multi-channel speaker stations to be connected to the “Intercom Out” lines of a DS 88 Hub, the power on these lines is not sufficient. To boost this power the DS84 power injector with an 48 VDC adaptor has to be used. Take the adaptor which comes with each multi-channel tabletop speaker station.
DS 130L Paging Speakers always have to be powered via the intercom line. In the drawing below are Paging Speakers speakers connected to the outputs of a DS 88 hub. In case the 48V DC power coming from that DS 88 is not sufficient (e.g. because of long cable runs), the DS 84 power injector can be used. In this case the adaptor which powers the DS 84 has to be bought separately.
In case multi-channel speaker stations are to be connected to the intercom lines (strings) of a Matrix Unit, the available 48V DC power is not sufficient in case of several stations in daisy chain wiring and/or long cable runs.
Please not that, if a multi-channel speaker station is supposed to be powered via the intercom line (string) or via the “Intercom Out” line of a DS 88 Hub, the position of a jumper inside such a station has to be changed.
To boost the power of a string the DS 85 Power Supply shall be used. 2.0
