Dublin Scioto Football Statistics Starting the Stats Program 1. 2. 3. 4. Click on Start Click on All Programs Click on TAS for Football Click on TASFB (DOS Scoring) You should see a Window open that looks like this. From this point forward, we will refer to this window as TASFB. Page #1 Pregame 1. From the opening TASFB screen, press ‘F’. This will display the following Serial # screen. 2. Press ‘Enter’to clear the Serial# screen. This will display the following Play input Main menu. 3. Press ‘F’then ‘Enter’to display the following File menu 4. Press ‘L’then ‘Enter’to display the following 2006 game list 5. U se the D ow n Arrow key to select the gam e to load (‘>’displays to the left ofthe selected gam e) and then, press ‘Enter’to load that gam e file. After loading the game, TASFB will return to the Play input Main menu screen. Page #2 6. Press ‘S’then ‘Enter’to display the following Scoresheet menu 7. Press ‘I’then ‘Enter’to display the following Play Input screen. This is where you will enter plays during the game. 8. After the coin toss,press ‘G ’to enter Game control,then ‘N ’to start the 1st half. You will be prompted to spot the ball. Ifthe Irish are kicking off,then the team w illbe ‘D ’and the Spot will be the Irish 40. Press ‘D ’,‘Enter’, ‘D 40’,then ‘Enter’. Ifthe opposing team is kicking off,then press the letter for the opposing team (usually the first letter ofthe school’s nam e),‘Enter’,‘W40’,then ‘Enter’. After spotting the ball,press the spacebar to accept the spot. Examples: IfScioto is kicking off,press ‘D ’,‘Enter’,‘D 40’,‘Enter’,spacebar IfW estland is the opposing team and they are kicking off,press ‘W ’,‘Enter’,‘W 40’,‘Enter’,spacebar General Play Input Instructions 1. Pressing ‘Enter’or ‘Tab’m oves forw ard betw een the play input prom pts. 2. Pressing ‘Shift+Tab’m oves backw ard betw een the play input prom pts. 3. D uring a play,pressing ‘Esc’w illcancelthe play currently being entered. Very helpful if you get stuck and you need to start a play over. 4. Press the spacebar after every play to accept the play. Running Plays 1. Press ‘R’to start a running play 2. Enter the number of the player carrying the ball,press ‘Enter’ 3. Press one of the following to end the play and then,press ‘Enter’ T for Tackle, O for Out of Bounds, F for fumble, . for End of Play (like scoring a TD) Page #3 4. Based on which letter you enter, you will be prompted for other input. Passing Plays 1. Press ‘R’to start a passing play 2. Enter the num ber for the Q B,press ‘Enter’ 3. Enter the letter corresponding to the result ofthe pass play,then press ‘Enter’. Lim it yourselfto C for com plete, Ifor incom plete,S for sack,X for intercept. Ifthere is a fum ble after the catch,press ‘C’for complete, enter the receiver’s num ber and then,press ‘F’for fum ble. 4. Follow the prompts to finish the play. Dead Ball Penalties: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Press ‘E’to start a penalty Enter the 2 character code for the penalty. Use the yellow sheet to find the appropriate penalty code. Enter the letter for the team committing the penalty Enter the letter for the penalty result Enter ‘TM ’for the ## prom pt Enter the new ball spot using the team letter followed by the ball position. Example: if the ball is spotted on the Dublin Scioto 40,enter ‘D 40’. 7. For the D w n:prom pt,press ‘N ’for norm al,1 for autom atic first dow n,+ for loss ofdow n. Penalties During a Play: 1. Before hitting spacebar to accept the play,press ‘E’to start penalty input. 2. Follow the prompts for entering the penalty information. At the end, you will be asked if stats count for this play. Most penalties result in the play not counting. Kicking Plays 1. Kickoff: Press ‘K’,then ‘O ’. Enter the kicker’s #,press ‘Enter’,the returner’s #,press ‘Enter’ 2. Field Goal: Press ‘K’,then ‘F’. Enter the kicker’s #,then ‘Enter’,the field goaldistance,then,‘Enter’,then press the letter for the kick result,then ‘Enter’. 3. PAT: Press ‘K’,then ‘A’. Press ‘K’for PAT Type,then ‘Enter’,enter the kicker’s #,press ‘Enter’,press ‘Enter’to skip Passed to:prom pt,then press the letter for the kick result,then press ‘Enter’. 4. 2 point conversion: Press ‘K’,then ‘A’. Press ‘R’for run or ‘P’for pass for the 2 point conversion type. For a pass,enter the Q B’s num ber for the By:prom pt. For a run,enter the ballcarrier’s num ber for the By:prom pt. For a pass,enter the receiver’s num ber for the Passed to:prom pt. For a run,press ‘Enter’to skip the Passed to: prompt. Then, press the letter for the result of the 2 point conversion attempt. End of 1st and 3rd Quarters 1. From the Play Input screen, press ‘G ’to enter Game control,then ‘Q ’to set the quarter. 2. Enter the quarter num ber (2 or 4)and then press ‘Enter’. 3. Press spacebar to accept setting the new quarter. End of 1st Half 1. From the Play Input screen, press ‘G ’to enter Game control,then ‘H ’to end the 1st half 2. Press ‘Enter’w hen prom pted for the tim e. The time will already be filled out as 00:00. 3. Press spacebar to accept ending the 1st half Page #4 Start of 2nd Half 1. From the Play Input screen, press ‘G ’to enter Game control,then ‘N ’to start the 2nd half 2. You w illbe prom pted to spot the ball. Press ‘S’then ‘Enter’to display the follow ing Save G am e screen. The actualfile nam e displayed m ay be different from the one shown below. 7. Press ‘Enter’one m ore tim e to save the stats for this gam e. 8. After saving the gam e,press ‘Q ’,then ‘Enter’to return to the opening screen and then,press the Esc key to quit TASFB. Page #5 Game Reports 1. 2. 3. 4. Click on Start Click on All Programs Click on TAS for Football Click on Game reports. This will open a window that looks like this: 5. Click on the Games List button. This will open a window that looks like this: Page #6 6. Double-click on the game you are interested in. The other buttons along the top of the Tasfb Game Reports window will now display in Yellow as shown below. Each of them generates and displays a different report. Season Reports 1. 2. 3. 4. Click on Start Click on All Programs Click on TAS for Football Click on Season reports. This will open a window that looks like this: Page #7 5. Click on the Teams List button. This will display the following Teams List window: 6. Double-click on Dublin Scioto in the Teams List window. This will return you to the Season reports window which allows you to display and print the cumulative statistics for the current season. Page #8 Calling in Stats and the Score – HOME GAMES ONLY! 1. Call each of the local TV stations with the score. The phone numbers are below: NBC Channel 4: 261-4707 ABC Channel 6: 481-6650 CBS Channel 10: 460-2843 2. Before calling the Columbus Dispatch, start Game Reports by following the instructions under the Game Reports section above. 3. Click on the yellow Team button to display the Team report and then, click on the yellow Indiv button to display the Individual report. 4. Call the Columbus Dispatch. Their number is: 461-5234. Indicate that you are calling in the score and the stats for Dublin Scioto. The person you talk with will ask questions about the game. Use the reports you opened to answer them. 5. When you are done talking with the Columbus Dispatch, close all of the open report windows. Printing Reports on Friday Night 1. Take the laptop and its power cord back to the coaches office and plug in all of the cables you unplugged when you took the laptop from the office to the press box. 2. Start Game Reports by following the instructions under the Game Reports section above. 3. Click on the yellow Team button to display the Team report. Then, click on Print in the menu bar. When the print window displays, make sure that the HP printer is selected as the printer, then press OK to print the this report. Then, close this report window. 4. Click on the yellow Indiv button to display the Individual Stats report. Then, click on Print in the menu bar. When the print window displays, make sure that the GCC Elite printer is selected as the printer, then press OK to print the this report. Then, close this report window. 5. Click on the yellow Drives button to display the Drive Chart report. Then, click on Print in the menu bar. When the print window displays, make sure that the GCC Elite printer is selected as the printer, then press OK to print the this report. Then, close this report window. 6. Close the Tasfb Game Reports window when printing is complete. Give the reports to Coach Johnson. Page #9 Entering Defensive Stats on Saturday Morning 1. Get the tackle sheet from Coach Jim Schafer. He will usually be in the Wrestling Room watching the game tape to fill in the tackle sheet. He usually has this ready by 9:30 AM at the latest. 2. Follow the instructions under the Starting the Stats Program section above to start TASFB. 3. Press ‘M ’and then, press ENTER to clear the Serial # display. 4. Press ‘F’and then,press EN TER to display the File m enu. 5. Press ‘L’and then,press EN TER to display the the G am es List. 6. Press dow n arrow untilthe ‘>’points at the gam e you w ant to load and then,press ENTER. 7. Press ‘S’and then,press EN TER to display the Scoresheet m enu 8. IfScioto w as the hom e team for this gam e,press ‘H ’and then,press EN TER. IfScioto w as the visiting team for this gam e,press ‘V’and then,press EN TER. 9. Press ‘D ’and then,press ENTER to display the following defensive stat entry screen. 10. W ith the ‘>’displayed in the top right ofthe box,press EN TER. If the ‘>’is not in the top right of the box, press the Up Arrow key to move it there. This will display the Scioto roster. Select the player from the roster by pressing down arrow and then, pressing ENTER. This will display the following defensive stat entry screen for the selected player. On this screen, UA means unassisted tackle, A means assisted tackle and Pass BrUp means Pass Broken Up. 11. Pressing ENTER or TAB will move the highlight to the next field. Pressing SHIFT+TAB will move the highlight back to the previous field. 12. Enter the stats for this player. Use positive numbers or 0 for each field. This includes numbers for Loss Yds. When you are done entering stats for this player, press CTRL+ENTER to finish. 13. Repeat the previous three steps to enter defensive stats for all of the players listed on the tackle sheet. Page #10 14. Move the ‘>’to the TM entry in this box and then, press ENTER. Enter 0 (zero) for every stat for TM. This will clear out all of the stats for TM. 15. If you need to change the stats for a player you already entered, move the ‘>’to that player in the box using the UP or DOWN arrow keys and then, press ENTER. This will open the edit box for that player. 16. When you are finished, press ESC to exit back to the STATS menu. Press ESC again to exit back to the Scoresheet menu. Press ESC again to exit back to the Main menu. 17. Press ‘F’,then EN TER,then ‘S’,then EN TER,and then EN TER once m ore w hen Save G am e is displayed. This w ill save the stats. 18. The M ain m enu screen should be displayed again. Press ‘Q ’,then EN TER to return to the opening screen. Then, press Esc to quit TASFB. 19. Put the Tackle Sheet in Coach Schafer’s desk. Printing Reports on Saturday Morning This is done after the defensive stats have been manually entered. 1. Start Game Reports by following the instructions under the Game Reports section above. 2. Click on the yellow Team button to display the Team report. Then, click on Print in the menu bar. When the print window displays, make sure that the HP printer is selected as the printer and set the number of copies to 3. Then, press OK to print this report. Then, close this report window. 3. Repeat step #2 above for the following yellow report buttons: Indiv, Drives, Def. 4. Once printing is complete, collate the copies into three stacks of reports. Each stack should have one copy of each report you printed. The Team, Individual and Defense reports are one page long. The Drives report is two pages long. 5. Close the Tasfb Game Reports window when printing is complete. 6. Start Season Reports by following the instructions under the Season Reports section above. 7. Click on the yellow Team button to display the Team Stats report. Then, click on Print in the menu bar. When the print window displays, make sure that the HP printer is selected as the printer and set the number of copies to 3. Then, press OK to print this report. Then, close this report window. 8. Repeat step #7 above for the following yellow report buttons: Indiv, Def., Combined. 9. Close the Tasfb Season Reports window when printing is complete. 10. Once printing is complete, collate the copies into three stacks of reports. Each stack should have one copy of each report you printed. Several of the reports are multiple pages long. Be aware of this when collating the printed copies. 11. Give the reports to Coach Johnson. If he is not there, put them on his desk. Other Notes 1. If at any time, you accidently hit the Esc key and return to the Scoresheet m enu screen,press ‘I’then ‘Enter’to return to the Play Input screen. 2. Ifat any tim e,you accidently hit the Esc key and return to the M ain M enu screen,press ‘S’,then ‘Enter’,then ‘I’, then ‘Enter’to return to the Play Input screen. Page #11
