INTRODUCTION: The digital video recorder (DVR) is for recording/ retrieving video streams from up to 4 channels at the same time. It adopts a digital image compression technology to compress the input channel video streams, and uses a HDD (Hard Disk Drive) to record the compressed video stream. The following operation guide explains how to operate/ manage the DVR and explains how to install the DVR at your premises and install the HDD into the DVR. Items inside the package.

DVR INSTALLATION: 1. Video Input Connection (Camera) Connect cameras to the DVR with video input connectors. (Remark: The DVR has 4 x BNC connectors, one for input of each camera.) 2. Video Output Connection (Monitor) Connect a monitor to the DVR with one of the video output connectors. (Remark: The DVR has 1 x S-VIDEO and 2 x BNC connectors.) 3. Sensor Installation Four sensor inputs are equipped with each DVR. Connect the sensor signal cord to the DVR rear panel. Connect the sensor adaptor jack with the respective sensor and apply power. Sensor mode setup: Select NO or NC mode on the DVR sensor setup menu. 4. Alarm Installation The DVR has one internal switch for sounding an alarm when any of the sensor inputs are activated. The switch is normally open or closed upon activation. The alarm connects to the alarm out terminal on the rear panel.

SWITCH ON DVR: The DVR is ready to display and record once it has been installed. After applying power, the DVR needs a few seconds to check the HDD (Hard Disk Drive). If a new HDD is detected, the DVR will automatically format the HDD. The following is one of the messages that will appear: HDD Checking…. Master 80072MB

Pressing || button will restore the unit to factory settings. On finishing HDD checks, the DVR will enter into real time display mode (quad view). At this time, any of the four channels is displayable by choosing the front panel buttons. (Refer to page 7, choose the channel you want to see). As following,

RECORD: Press「●」button to start recording images. All selected images will be recorded by the DVR into the HDD. The following shows a quad view when pressing the record button.
Press the
button to stop video recording. The DVR will prompt for a
password to stop video recording, the default password is set to “111111” – use the Channel 1 Select button to input the value “1”. The password can be altered in the “Sub Menu”. Remark: Any channel can be displayed on the monitor by pressing the appropriate Channel Select button. Pressing the 田 button will return the monitor to a quad display.

# The date and time range below the “Hard Drive Master” label shows the range of recordings available on the HDD. Below this is a list of events triggered by either an external sensor or motion detection. # Press the button to start a time and date search. # Position the cursor using the ▲ and▼ buttons to select the date and/or time. Use the button to cycle through the available options. After reaching the desired option use the ▲ and▼ buttons to move onto the next variable. When the correct date and time has been entered, press the f button to start the playback. # The button could speed up the playback rate. Pressing twice doubles the playback speed, Pressing the button reverses the playback. # When the menu first appears the cursor is set to the first logged event. Press the f button to playback that event or use the ▲ and▼ buttons to select another listed event. #On the status of menu , keep pressing the button about three seconds and the 12
arrow will move continuously. # Press the button to pause playback. The button is to stop playback.

CAMERA SELECT Used to select and display (on the menu bar) the number of cameras connected to the DVR. The Video Loss buzzer is enabled if a camera is selected in this menu but no video signal presents on that channel. Use the
to cycle through the options, some examples are shown below: 13
(1 2 3 4):Select cameras 1, 2, 3 and 4. (12--):Select cameras 1 and 2. (-2 3-):Select cameras 2 and 3. (----): No cameras are selected.
RECORD SELECT # Used to select and display (on the menu bar) the cameras whose video input will be recorded on the HDD. # It is usually the same as those selected in the “Camera Select” menu and cameras are selected for recording in the same manner. RECORD MODE # Can be set to either “EACH” or “QUAD”. # When set to “EACH” all selected cameras (in the Record Select menu) are recording on the HDD in full screen. # When set to “QUAD” all selected cameras (in the Record Select menu) are recorded on the HDD as a quad screen image. RECORD FRAME RATE # The default value is 30 fps for NTSC and 25 fps for PAL. # A number of different frame rate settings: PAL:
25fps, 12fps, 8fps, 6fps, 4fps, 3fps, 2fps, 1fps
NTSC:
30fps, 15fps, 10fps, 7fps, 5fps, 4fps, 3fps, 2fps, 1fps
# The higher the frame rate the more natural the video stream will look when 14
it’s played back but will use the greatest amount of HDD storage. # The frame rate is divided by the number of cameras selected in the Record Select menu, for example: If the frame rate is set to 25fps (PAL) and four cameras have been selected then each camera will be recorded at 6.25fps. VIDEO QUALITY # Three options for video quality, HIGH, NORMAL and LOW. The higher the video quality the clearer the recorded images will be but will use a greater amount of HDD storage.

RECORD SCHEDULE: # The DVR is set for 24 hour recording as a default. To change the recording schedule, select the “Record Schedule” menu.

OVERWRITE # When set to “YES” the DVR overwrites all existing stored recordings when the HDD(s) reach full capacity. # Use the▼ and ▲ buttons to select the “Overwrite” option and the button to toggle between YES or NO.

# AREA SETUP: Used to define up to two zones per Channel where motion is to be detected. Selecting a “Channel Area Set Up” brings that Channel up full screen on the monitor. A rectangle is displayed, which will define the top left hand corner of the first motion detection zone. Use the ▼ and ▲ buttons to move the rectangle up
and down and the and buttons to move the rectangle left and right. Use the button to set the position of the top left hand corner of the zone. The rectangle will move to another position in readiness to define the bottom right corner of the first motion detection zone. Use the same procedure shown above to select the correct position for the bottom right corner. The rectangle again moves position. Repeat the above instructions to set a second motion detection zone

Note: Only connect one DVR at a time with the connection software. Avoid connecting DVR’s simultaneously.

USB LINK SOFTWARE: (only for USB version or Network Version DVR) # Before using USB ports to make PC Link, please be sure that the DVR is not in Record or Playback mode. # When the PC is connected to the DVR using the USB connector it displays the message “USB LINKED” in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. Removing the USB Link from the PC causes the DVR to automatically restart. # Once the PC Link has been activated the DVR play and record functions will be inoperable as control is passed to the connected PC. # Open up the PC Link software package Hints: When PC detects USB storage setup, PC has connected DVR host already. Switch on PC LINK play program for 20~30 seconds, you can see following footage.

Note: If there is no picture, HDD is not detected. Close the software of USB LINK and disconnect the USB cable. Five seconds later , connect the USB cable again . When the USB device is detected by the system , run USB LINK software.

PRINT EVENT: Move the mouse to 8 ( Event search), and select the event you want. Then, click OK to play the event recorded. The menu is shown as below.
Copy the images and record the images DVR host play program offers dynamic and static image output. You can easily copy the static image, and store it in BMP file, or store a certain part of record in AVI file. The converted images can be played by PC software (such as Media Player). Hints: 1. USB LINK work system supports Win 2000 / XP. 2. Hard Disk Brand recommend: Maxtor、Seagate 3. If two hard disks are used, we would suggest using the same brand so as to avoid compatible problem that USB cannot be found.

Note: When the remote system is on-line, if any of the DVR buttons is pressed, the DVR will be automatically off-line. 33
