Precautions Power Supply 4-CH DVR uses DV 12V as its power source; 8-CH DVR uses DV 12V as its power source; 16-CH DVR uses standard ATX as its power source. Please confirm your voltage prior to the use of the DVR. If the DVR should not be used for a long time, the power would better be disconnected completely. And unplug the power cord from the electric outlet.
Safety If any solid or liquid gets into the DVR, please disconnect the power supply immediately. And it can be restarted only after checked by qualified technicians. The DVR is a sophisticated equipment, hence, in the event of any fault, the user should contact with distributors or ask for help from qualified technicians instead of repairing the DVR by the user himself.
Installation It should be installed horizontally. Pay attention to the earthing of the outer casing. Make sure a hard disk is installed in the initial installation. Please avoid the live opening of the case and the live replacement of hard disk. Hard disk at a high speed of 7200 revolutions per second is highly recommended. In order to prevent the DVR from overheating, please select the appropriate installation site of good ventilation. It can not be installed near heat source, such as radiator and air duct. Besides, it can not be installed in places which are of direct sunlight or excessive dust, and are prone to mechanical vibration and impact.

Chapter 1 About Product 1.1 Brief Introduction DVR of this series consists of digital monitoring equipments of high quality and precise positioning, which is specially designed for the field of security. It adopts embedded processor and embedded operating system, applies high-performance compressed coding and decoding chips and brings in the most advanced technical achievements in IT field, such as audio coding and decoding, large hard disk storage and TCP/IP network. It solidifies codes in flash, which makes the system more stable, pictures much clearer and functions more powerful. DVR of this series can be both used independently and connected to form a powerful network monitoring center. It has been widely used for security in banks at home and abroad, telecom, electric power, justice, transportation, residential areas, factories, warehouses and sectors of water resources. In addition, it plays an important role in household security system. Product of 8 circuits is taken as an example in this guidebook for detailed explanation and pictures used in this guidebook are also based on 8-circuit product. The operation of 4-circuit/16-circuit products can make a reference to this guidebook.
1.2 Main Functions
Real-time monitoring
With analog output interface and VGA Memory interface, realizing monitoring function function by monitor; 1-frame/4-frame/8-frame/9-frame monitoring; Real-time display of video bit rate and space usage per hour; Channel frames prompts channel status, such as video recording, dynamic detection, video loss, video blind and alarm triggering; Local system log;
-6-
4 built-in SATA interfaces can be connected with 4 large-capacity hard disks; Hard disk file consists of overwritten loop record and acyclic record; Special format is adopted for data memory, which makes it unable to falsify any data and ensure data security;

Compression mode
Video compression mode:H.264; 8-circuit audio and video signals, voice and image keep stability and synchronization;
Backup function
Backup through USB interface (such as common U-disk or mobile hard disk); Backup video files through DVD disc-carving machine; Client computer can backup hard disk files by downloading from network;
Video recording and playing function
Multiplex; every circuit can achieve independent/real-time video recording, 1-circuit/4-circuit search playback, network monitoring, and video inquiry/downloading at the same time; Many modes for video recording: manual, ordinary, timed, alarm recording, motion recording; prerecording function; Files recorded on the DVR can be played back through network; Rapid search of video files and classification search of video types; Many playback modes: slow play, rapid play, frame-by-frame play; The exact time of the event can be showed in the process of playback;
Network operating function
Remote real-time monitoring through network; PTZ control; Video inquiry and real-time playback; Software upgrading and modification of configuration; Remote alarm handling and system log examination; Adoption of embedded TCP/IP agreement and embedded operating system which makes it possible to visit websites directly through WINDOWS own IE browser; Management mode: adoption of enhancing user management and password to ensure that only legal user can log in; the permission of different users can be set according to different needs because of the flexibility and convenience of the management mode;
Alarm linkage function
8 circuits for alarm input (alarm type can be set through normally open switch and normally closed switch); functions of video loss alarm and motion alarm; warning facilities can be smoke detector, heat detector and infrared detector; 4 circuits for relay switching value alarm output to conveniently realize alarm linkage and light control;
Communication interface
Special interface to realize alarm input and PTZ control; Standard Ethernet interface to realize remote access;
-7-

Chapter 9 FAQ ◎Connected with the power supply, DVR does not start running. · Check if the mains switch on the back of DVR has been switched on. · Check if DVR has started up correctly. · Check if the power is enough.
◎Startup LOGO stays on the screen. · The hard disk may have some physical damage. · The boot manager may malfunction.
◎DVR starts up very slowly. · Hard disk errors which make the host of DVR test hard disk repeatedly may result in the slow start.
◎DVR restarts repeatedly. · Please check the power supply.
Connected with several hard disks, DVR may be short of power, which may lead to repeated restart.
· Please unplug the network cable, and then check if DVR runs normally.
Network with serious faults may also lead to repeated restart.
◎System halts during normal use. · Check connection of hard disk.
If there is a problem, please replace the corresponding hard disk in time.
· Ambient temperature may be too high. · Check if there is any heavy current installation around DVR, and if video cables are impacted by strong electric surge.
◎Fail to upgrade - 82 -
DVR User’s Guide
· The compatibility of U-disk is too poor to be recognized by DVR. It is recommended to try several U-disks or use U-disk of new brand. · The interface of USB is of poor connection. · In the process of upgrading, voltage fluctuates greatly.
◎Pictures on the screen of monitor or TV are in only black and white. · Check if video input, DVR, monitor/TV are in the exactly same format.
If not, choose automatic identification for format selection of monitor/TV.
◎No display on the monitor/computer monitor screen. · Check if the monitor has been turned on, or if the brightness of monitor is in the lowest status. · Check if video cables are correctly connected and if there is any fault in the circuit.
◎Obvious phenomenon of moire · Check if there is short circuit/open circuit, poor weld or poor connection of video cables. · Video cables are impacted by heavy current.
The wiring of video cables and the wiring of heavy current circuits should be mutually independent. Please use
high-quality shielded cables. · Only single-point earthing of host can be adopted in the whole system.
Multi-point grounding is not allowed. The earthing of DVR host should be done
through grounding screw on the back of host. · If there is any ageing phenomenon in camera/monitor/circuits.
◎Color distortion of real-time images and videos · If input/output video parameters are well tuned. · Check if there is any fault in connection.
◎Image distortion/screen tearing/colour cast in using computer monitor · Check if there is good common ground between VGA cables and DVR host. · The operating ambient temperature of DVR host may be too high, or the DVR host may be of poor heat dissipation, or parameters of corresponding circuits may - 83 -

be unnormal.
◎Mosaic appears during video playback · Adjustment of video recording parameters may be too low. · There may be bad hard disk sectors.
◎Fail to automatically upgrade client controls · If the IP address of access server is right. · If the browser is correctly set. (take 8.1.2 for reference) · Close the opened window of client controls. · Please use Microsoft Internet Explorer for server accessing.

Annex 2 Alarm Input End 8 circuits for alarm input, input type can be normal open or normal close; The grounding end of alarm detector (GND) should be parallel connected with com end (the alarm detector should be powered by the external power supply); The grounding end of alarm detector should be parallel connected with the earthing end of DVR; The NC end of alarm detector should be connected with alarm input end of DVR (ALARM); If it is needed to remotely reset triggered alarm, the power supply of DVR, which is DC 12V, should feed the alarm detector, such as smoke detector. When external power source is used to feed warning equipment, it should share common ground with DVR. Alarm input circuit
