LINE Input 2: ¼ inch stereo input with independent level control knob
•
LINE Input 2: RCA stereo input with independent level control knob
•
LINK OUT: Output to second DXR speaker with switchable MONO or STEREO Mode!
BENEFIT—Very convenient mixing features built in the speaker itself. The link out allows a true stereo set up, which is great for keyboardists, DJs or anyone who needs a true stereo system. Don’t forget to SELL the concept of STEREO!
FEATURE—Func.onal Design •
Pole mount can be set at 0° or 7°
•
50° angle in monitor posiBon insures that in monitor posiBon the output is not aimed at the musicians knees (DXR10, 12 and 15)
•
Symmetrical shape allows mirror-‐mode monitor placement (DXR12 and 15)
BENEFIT—The pole mount allows musicians on the floor or on an elevated stage to more precisely aim the DXR output. The monitors are angled upwards (no need to use books, boxes, etc., to aim your monitors up!) and the symmetrical design allows a beier sound when using two monitors.
FEATURE—Easy to Fly •
Rigging points for suspended applicaBons with standard eyebolts and an opBonal U-‐bracket
•
Expandable U-‐bracket for verBcal and horizontal mount that’s compaBble with a lot of exisBng accessories
BENEFIT—DXR is easy to safely install in a club, churches, schools, etc.
Who is the DXR/DXS Customer? •
Schools and Churches o
•
Small Group “Coffee Shop” Musicians o
•
The mixer secBon allows for simultaneous vocal, keyboard and iPod inputs
Singers who need a PA o
•
Great choice for installaBon because of simple set up (DXR12/15 with DXS15)
Example: Jazz singers who want a great sounding simple set up that they can move by themselves (DXR8 with DXS12 is ideal)
Keyboardists and Guitarists o
Keyboardists should be running in STEREO! Sell STEREO! Guitarists who run DSP based/ synth stereo rigs (Pods, GR-‐55, etc.)
WHEN DEMOING DXR: 1. Connect a iPod, iPhone, etc. with a stereo mini jack to either 1/4” or RCA L/R to the DXR inputs 2 or 3. A stereo demo will always offer the best sound, so if you can take the Bme to set the DXR up in matching pairs DO THAT! To demo two speakers use the LINK OUT feature. Connect at the les/right inputs (2 and 3), then connect with XLR to the second DXR and engage the LINK OUT buion on the back. If a stereo set up is not available plug into les/right inputs 2 or 3 and demo a single speaker.
Set the D CONTOUR to FOH/MAIN for the audio demo.
2. In almost every case Connect to the either #2 (1/4” line input) or #3 (RCA type input). the loudest you really need have to set the levels on the back of the speaker for an effecBve in-‐store demo is NOMINAL (0 on the LEVEL controls at the input as seen on the right). Nominal should be loud enough to get the point across that this speaker can really deliver SPL. Use an XLR type microphone cable and press the LINK MODE switch to set the DXR to STEREO
3. Select well recorded, mixed and mastered music that has a wide frequency range, solid midrange definiBon, and varied mixing styles and when beginning a demo make sure the D-‐ CONTOUR buion is ON to on (FOH/MAIN). The processing is one of the main features that makes the speaker sound so great at all levels. An important point about DXR is the detail in the midrange and the fact that even when the speaker is not really loud the sound is sBll superb. Point out the midrange detail: This is one of the big selling points of the DXR line. A good line is this: “DXR always sounds good. When you turn them up they just get louder, but they always sound good”. This is a big feature of the DXR. 4. If I am comparing DXR to a compeBtor speakers I set the compeBtor to nominal as well. With regard to anything in the same price range as DXR it is generally louder at nominal. Also, the DXR12 competes very effecBvely with many compeBtors 15” speaker. 5. The an. feedback demo needs to be done CAREFULLY. If you are going to do the mic demo use a Shure SM58 or SM57 (DON’T use a condenser mic or hyper cardiod) and try to use the DXR12. a. Set the DXR D-‐CONTOUR to MONITOR mode and place the DXR on the floor in monitor posiBon. b. Keep the microphone about 3-‐4 feet away and BE CAREFUL. The right distance is crucial-‐-‐don’t shove the mic inches from the speaker. c. You can get the DXR loud and just say “Mic Check... Test... Test...” into the mic and then, from the standard monitor posiBon, point the mic at the speaker. It is best to pracBce this demo first so you can be assured of a good demo! Doing this right can be a very powerful and effecBve demo. 6. Regarding music choices: Make sure you think about what you are going to use. Try to avoid allowing a customer to use their own music because; a) it may not have the best quality audio content (and it might have profanity) and; b) you lose control of the demo. Always control your demo! 7. If you are comparing with a compeBtor, make sure that if they have a “DEEP” or “BOOST” switch on the back and it is on you engage D CONTOUR on the DXR. Apples to Apples...Our processing sounds great. 8. Connect your audio source directly to the speaker inputs and DO NOT run a thru out from one to another, especially when you are using a compeBtors THRU out. If it is connected to a mixer make sure that things are set up correctly (proper gain staging is crucial). 9. One last thing: I point out how quiet DXR is when it is just on and si\ng there. Many other speakers hiss a lot louder. Our amplifier is high-‐quality and quiet!
