The e-CAM51A_USB is a UVC and UAC compliant camera module with autofocus capability and built-in microphone. This follows the e-con’s 3MP AF camera module e-CAM33_USB. This document serves as the datasheet for e-CAM51A_USB with electrical, mechanical and software features supported by it. 3 Description 3.1 Overview e-CAM51A_USB is a 71 x 13 mm small form factor device with a high performance 5 Mega Pixel pluggable camera module with auto focus especially targeted for embedded devices with PC Operating Systems such as Windows XP SP2, Windows 7 and Linux etc. The e-CAM51A_USB Camera module is based on OV5640 CMOS Image sensor from OmniVision Inc. e-CAM51A_USB has a built in microphone and an integrated ADC which can provide user with high quality audio sampling functions. 16 bit Pulse code modulation is supported with sample rate of 48 KHz. High Definition USB Camera Board is fully compliant with USB Video Class (UVC) 1.0 Standard, the USB Audio Class 1.0 Standard. So video streaming through UVC and audio streaming through UAC is possible without any special drivers on Operating Systems that have built-in support for these UVC and UAC standards. For example, the e-CAM51A_USB does not require any device drivers to be installed on Windows XP SP2 or later, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (both regular PC versions and the embedded versions) as these Operating Systems come with the Microsoft supplied UVC/UAC drivers built-in. The USB HD Camera board has one general purpose Input (DI0) pin and one general purpose output (DO0) pin that can be customized depending on the User preferences. These DI0 and DO0 are controlled through UVC extension control. This additional feature may require a UVC Extension DLL to be installed manually to access these features. In addition there are two more general purpose pin 1 (TRIG) and pin 4 (F/M) used for specific video controls. TRIG pin is used for snapshot function and F/M pin is used for flipping the image. www.e-consystems.com | Subject to change without notice Page 4 of 12 e-CAM51A_USB 3.2 Datasheet October 28 2015 Features  71 x 13 mm small size device  Lightweight, versatile, and portable design  Plug-and-Play setup (UVC and UAC compliant)for Windows XP SP2, Vista, Windows 7 and Linux  Imaging applications  True 5.0 megapixel sensor  Still Capture support of up to 5MP resolution  Preview/video capture support in MJPEG and YUV422 formats  Automatic exposure control  Auto White Balance  Auto Focus  Output Video format  YUY2  MJPEG  Audio Applications  Built-in microphone with 16 bit PCM support  Focusing Type  Triggered autofocus  The user can trigger a single shot autofocus from the application. The single trigger autofocus operation is automatically triggered whenever a new preview resolution is initiated by the user. Every time a preview is initiated, the camera does an autofocus operation automatically once. The user can trigger the autofocus manually after that.  Manual focus  The user can set the lens position from the application. This requires econ’s UVC extension DLL to be installed. The lens position change is available only from the UVC extension application. The manual focus mode and position are not retained after the still capture from still pin. After the still capture from the still pin, the sensor is reset to initialize a preview with an autofocus operation.  Operating Voltage  5V +/- 5%  ROHS compliant  USB 2.0 recommended www.e-consystems.com | Subject to change without notice Page 5 of 12 e-CAM51A_USB Datasheet October 28 2015 4 Key Specification Description Size (L X W X Specification H) 71 x 13 x 7.8 mm (including PCB thickness) PCB Thickness 1 mm Video format YUV2 / MJPEG USB 2.0 2592X 1944 (max) Image Resolution 640 X 480 320 X240 (min) Windows XP (with Service Pack 2) Supported OS Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 Linux Video Class & Audio Class Compliant Yes LED N/A PID (Product ID) 0xC05A VID (Vendor ID) 0x2560 4.1 Frame Rate 4.2 Supported Frame Rate The frame rate from the camera module is subject to various aspects, especially ambient lighting of the target scene, resolution and streaming format.
