EC9600i® quick start guide RDM’s EC9600i series check scanners offer secure and affordable functionality in an efficient, reliable design. Embedded software enables easy one-time, web-based configuration, eliminating the need for installation on a PC. The first time you use an RDM EC9600i network scanner, you might need to configure certificates on your computer.

Setting up your scanner
Please choose a location for your scanner that: • Has a flat surface • Has adequate ventilation and protection from elements • Is close to a network hub and electrical outlet
Connecting the power cord • Align the flat side of power connector so that it is facing up • Insert the round end of the power cord into power port on the back of the scanner • When the cord is pushed in completely, it clicks into place • With the power cord connected to power adapter, plug the other end of cord into an electrical outlet
Install franker cartridge •R emove the front cover. At the
back of the scanner, the franker is held by a blue franker latch and metal plate • Lift the blue latch • Insert the franker cartridge. Make sure the top of the metal plate fits into the slot in franker cartridge (as pictured below) • Secure the franker cartridge: − Push the metal plate towards body of scanner (pushing in franker cartridge) − Lowering the blue latch over franker cartridge; snap closed
Insert paper roll If you have a scanner with a receipt printer, the following steps describe how to install or replace the paper roll • Press the printer cover release button • Remove the empty paper roll • Insert the paper roll into the compartment, with the end of the paper rolling from the top (as pictured below) • Pull a small portion out of the compartment • Close the printer cover so that the end of the paper sticks out
Note: EC9611f/EC9612f SF do not include a franker cartridge

Connecting your scanner
Determine how you would like to connect your scanner. See below for connection options:

Locating your scanner’s model and serial number
Model number
You can find the model and serial number either on the bottom or back of the scanner, depending on your model of EC9600i scanner (as pictured). The serial number is required to locate and connect to the scanner.

Accessing the EC9600i network scanner dashboard To test the scanner, you’ll need to access the dashboard: • Open a browser • In the URL bar, enter the scanner dashboard address (as pictured): − Using a Windows PC, enter: https://rd
.local (or alternatively without .local extension) − Using a Macintosh, enter: https://rd.local • An Internet connection is required when the scanner is connected directly via Ethernet, but is not required when connected directly via USB

Please note: you may need to install security certificates or configure your browser’s security settings. See the documentation for your scanning application to confirm you have installed certificates and configured your browser.
Scanning application requirements
The EC9600i series scanners do not require drivers to be installed on your computer. However, depending on your scanning application, there might be some additional setup required for the application to connect to the scanner. Please refer to the requirements of your scanning application for specific setup information. Below you will find examples of the possible steps. • Install a security certificate on your computer • Make changes to your browser’s security settings • Configure or select scanner model
