1. General Information The unit utilises passive infrared technology to detect heat radiation of moving human bodies. Upon detection, the lamp will illuminate for a user-determined time period. An integral daylight sensor ensures night-only operation if required.
2. Parts Included • Low Energy Floodlight c/w motion sensor. • Instruction manual. Please keep safe for future reference. • Accessory Pack including lens mask, screws and wall plugs. • 1pc. 20W low energy Compact Fluorescent Light. (For ECO1PIR & ECO3PIR) • 2pcs 20W low energy Compact Fluorescent Light. (For ECO2PIR)
3. Tools & Parts Needed
5
• 3 flexible core cable (1.0mm² or 1.5mm²). • Electric/hand-held drill & bits. • Terminal or Electricians screwdriver. • Wire cutters. Do not attempt to install during wet weather, if you are suffering from nausea or dizzy spells or on medication with similar side effects. No User Serviceable Parts Inside
4. Installation IMPORTANT Switch off the electricity at the fuse box by removing the relevant fuse or switching off the circuit breaker before proceeding with the installation (Diagram 2). After choosing a suitable location install the unit as follows: The unit is suitable for connection to 230V ac 50Hz electricity supply. It is suggested that 3-core round flexible cable of 1mm² or 1.5mm² gauge is used. An internal switch should be installed to switch the power to the unit . This allows the unit to be easily switched off when not required or for maintenance purposes. This unit uses an integral wall fixing plate, detach the wall fixing plate by unscrewing and release but do not remove the fixing screw on the underside of the wall plate (Diagram 3).
6
Mark the position of the wall fixing holes (60mm). Ensure the wall plate is correctly positioned. Note the “TOP” ident on the inside of the wall plate. Drill the holes, insert the wall plate into the holes. Pierce and pass the cable through the grommet before securing the wall plate to the wall. It is recommended that the grommet is pierced with a screwdriver to ensure a better seal. (Diagram 4). Fix the wall plate to the wall with screws provided . Connect the cable to the terminal block on the unit as follows ( Diagram 5 ): Neutral (Blue )

Ensure Connections are secure. The unit is supplied with a hanging attachment (tether) to aid installation. Ensure the tether is securely fixed into the slot before releasing the weight of the unit. (Diagram 6)
To connect another unit of uncontrolled floodlight , connect the looping power cable to the terminal block on the master unit as follows (Diagram 7): Neutral (Blue )

EARTH (Green/ Yellow) LIVE (Brown)

Fit the floodlight to the bracket by inserting the catch in the floodlight into the recess at the top of the wall plate and locating the floodlight securely over the wall plate. Fit and fully secure the retaining screw (Diagram 3). For ECO1PIR & ECO2PIR To fit the CFL, release but do not remove the screw on the front cover of the floodlight , open and rotate down but do not separate from the main floodlight body. (Diagram 8) For ECO3PIR
7
To fit the bulb, turn the lamp enclosure 180 anti-clockwise to release from the bayonet lock. (Diagram 10) Remove the bulbs from its packaging and fit into the lampholders. Ensure the bulb is fully secured into the lampholder. Close the front cover, ensure the screw is fully tighten. This floodlight uses a universal joint, it can be directed to suit your installation by rotating the floodlight left to right and up or down. (Diagram 9)
5. Operation and Testing Setting Up For Automatic Operation The Sensor Head can be panned 90 degree to left and 90 degree to the right. (Diagram 10) The adjustment controls on the unit (Diagram 11) should be set as follows. The TIME control determines how long the lamp remains illuminated after activation (3min to 15min). These settings allow the lamp to illuminate for the designated time on period after darkness falls and the unit is activated.
The DUSK (LUX) control determines the level of darkness required for the unit to start operating. (Diagram 12) Walk Test is used to test and adjust the detection coverage of the unit. (Diagram 13) Adjust the Time knob to “T” then conduct a walk test procedure as described as follows: • Adjust the Time knob to “T”, and Lux knob to “Sun”. • Walk across the detection area, once the detector is triggered and lamp will On for 3 min. The setting is best achieved by the procedure below: Set the DUSK control knob fully anti-clockwise and the Time control to the required minutes. Wait until darkness falls.
8
When the ambient light level reaches the level of darkness at which you wish the lamp to become operative (ie. At dusk), SLOWLY rotate the control in a clockwise direction until a point is reached where the lamp illuminates. Leave the control set at this point. At this position, the unit should become operative at approximately the same level of darkness each evening. Observe the operation of the unit. If the unit is starting to operate too early (ie. when it is quite light), adjust the control slightly anti-clockwise. If the unit starts to operate too late (ie. only when it is very dark), adjust the control slightly clockwise. Continue to adjust until the unit operates as desired. Lens mask is to mask out area not desired for detection (Diagram 15). Installation of lens mask as follows (Diagram 16): • Use a penknife or pliers to cut out lens mask segment, exposing area for detection. • Attach the lens mask to the detector head. • Turn slightly the lens mask for it to be locked into place. Manual Override Mode The light can be switched on for longer time periods by use of the Manual Override Mode.
This can be activated at night by using the internal wall switch or circuit breaker. Switch the internal wall switch/circuit breaker twice (OFF/ON/OFF/ON) within 2 seconds. The unit will now illuminate continuously until dawn or until switched back into Auto Mode. To switch the unit back into Auto Mode , switch the internal wall switch/circuit breaker once (OFF/ON) within one second. The unit will return to its Auto Mode and will operate as set up after the walk test procedure. (Diagram 17).

6. Troubleshooting Guide Problem Lamp stays ON all the time night and day.
Solution Check wiring connections. Wires to L and L1 terminals may be transposed.
Lamp stays ON all the time at night, or PIR keeps activating at random for no apparent reason.
The unit may be suffering from false activation. Cover the sensor lens completely with black pvc tape. This will prevent the sensor from "seeing" anything. If the unit now switches off after the set time duration and does not re-activate, this indicates that the problem was caused by false activation. The problem may be solved by slightly adjusting the direction/angle of the sensor head (see previous section). If however, the unit continues to remain ON or to operate randomly the unit is faulty and should be replaced.
PIR keeps activating for no reason / at random.
You may not be allowing the unit time to complete it's warm-up period. Stand well out of the detection range and wait (the warm-up period should never exceed 5 minutes). Occasionally, winds may activate the sensor. Sometimes passages between buildings etc. can cause a "wind tunnel" effect. Ensure the unit is not positioned so as to allow detection of cars/people using public thoroughfares adjacent to your property. Ensure that the unit is mounted securely, even the slightest movement can result in a false detection.
PIR sensor will not operate at all. Lamp stays OFF.
Check that the power is switched ON at the circuit breaker/internal wall switch. Turn OFF the power to the unit and check the wiring connections as per the diagram (see section 3). Ensure no connections are loose. Check the CFL. If the CFL has failed, replace. Ensure that the CFL is seated correctly in the lamp holder.
The PIR sensor will not operate at night.
Refer to section 3 for DUSK control adjustment.
Unit activates during the daytime. PIR coverage is poor/sporadic.
Unit may be poorly located. Re-locate the unit.
Detection range varies from day to day.
PIR sensors are infl uenced by climatic conditions. The colder the ambient temperature, the more effective the sensor will be. You may need to make seasonal adjustments to the sensor head position to ensure trouble-free operation all year round.
