Efficiency Maximiser for Solid Fuel Central Heating INSTALLATION AND TECHNICAL MANUAL CONTENTS CONTENTS AND CAUTION 1 INTRODUCTION AND INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE LIGHTING BOILER STOVE 2 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 3 INSTALLATION DIAGRAMS 4-5 TECHNICAL DATA 6 It is important that this information booklet is read and understood fully before installation. This unit MUST only be installed by a fully qualified person who understands and adheres to all relevant regulations. CAUTION – Follow the installation instructions in this Manual – ‘How to Install the Heat Hero using a solid fuel boiler with a secondary heat surce and both an open radiator zone and a controlled radiator zone. The following instructions are given to help the installer ensure a safe and efficient installation and to get the most heat from the solid fuel central heating system. 1 INTRODUCTION Some of the benefits of the Heat Hero are; The pipe thermostat is set at 50°-55°. This means that the radiators and cylinder through the injectors will start heating quickly resulting in no waste of stove heat. This works very well even when the cylinder is located a long way from the Stove.               The Gravity Flow and Return is completely safe and open. The Heat Hero Return can be fitted anywhere on the Gravity Return. The Heat Hero Flow can be fitted anywhere on the Flow Return. There is a Flow Injector directing the water out from the stove and into the radiators. There is a Return Injector directing the water out from the radiators and into the Stove. There is a cylinder Injector directing the flow around the cylinder keeping the cylinder coil hot. The Heat Hero Return separates the cold radiator water from the hot gravity water in the cylinder coil. Balancing valves are fitted on the radiator flow and the cylinder injector flow, which controls both the radiator and cylinder circulation when the pump is on. Only one circulation pump is needed, (5m, 6m, 7m or 8m) head pump can be used depending on the amount of radiators and the size of the stove in the house. It can be fitted to existing pipework. It will heat all of the radiators evenly. It will increase the life span of the grate and baffle plate in the Stove. There are no moving parts, so no maintenance is ever required. There is a full technical telephone back up available. IMPORTANT - INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE LIGHTING THE STOVE:           Make sure the system is full of water. Make sure that all of the valves are open. Run the circulation pump before the stove is lit. Turn off the injector balance valve to clear any air in the radiator lines. (Then turn back on again). Turn off the radiator balance valve and clear any air from the Gravity Lines. (Then turn back on again). Light the Stove slowly and check that the hot water is leaving the stove. Set the injector balance valve to cylinder approximately 1/3 open or 1/2 open depending on how far away the cylinder is from the Heat Hero Return. Open the radiator balance valve fully and let water circulate fully around the radiators. Solid fuel circulation pump and secondary heat circulation pump should be turned up to the maximum speed. Set the pipe thermostat to 50°-55°. 2 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS ARE GIVEN TO HELP THE INSTALLER ENSURE A SAFE AND EFFICIENT INSTALLATION AND TO GET THE MOST HEAT FROM THE SOLID FUEL SYSTEM. No. 1 The Pipe Thermostat must be of good quality and should be fitted as close to the solid fuel boiler as per diagrams (pages 4-5). Caution should be taken that the heat from the stove does not damage the workings of the pipe thermostat. No. 2 The Circulation Pump can be fitted in the hot press or anywhere on the radiator flow as per diagrams (pages 4-5). (No valves can be fitted on the gravity flow or return). No. 3 Balancing Gate Valves must be fitted on both the flow injector and the radiator flow as per diagrams (pages 4-5). This allows the water circulation around the radiators and the cylinder to be balanced. No.4 The Cylinder Injector Pipe is teed off just after the circulation pump and connected into the flow injector Port on the Heat Hero Return as per diagrams (pages 4-5). No. 5 The Cold Feed Connection must be connected into gravity return. No.6 The Heat Hero Return can be fitted anywhere on the gravity return. (follow the directions as shown on the Heat Hero Return). No.7 The Heat Hero FLow can be fitted anywhere on the gravity flow. (follow the directions as shown on the Heat Hero Flow). No.8 The Heating Storage Tank should have a minimum of 3 foot space between the bottom of the heating storage tank and the top of the central heating system (e.g. above heating flow or above the radiators) No.9 The Expansion should be fitted on the cylinder side of the Heat Hero Flow. As per diagrams (pages 4-5). No.10 Non Return Valves must be of good quality and installed as per diagrams (pages 4-5). No.11 Motorised Valves must be of good quality and installed as per diagrams (pages 4-5). No.12 Open Radiator Zone Every solid fuel heating system MUST HAVE an OPEN radiator zone. The open radiator zone CANNOT have any automatic shut off valves. This zone is most often used in the living area of the house. No.13 Controlled Radiator Zone is most often used in the bedrooms of a house. It is most often controlled by a motorised valve which is operated by a time clock. This clock can be set to switch on the heating in this zone in the evening allowing the solid fuel boiler to heat the living area all day. No.14 Auto Air Vents should be installed at the secondary heat source and at the cylinder instead of using expansion pipes as per the Diagram on page 5. No.15 Blow Off Valves must be installed at the secondary heat source as per the Diagram on page 5. 3 INSTALLATION DIAGRAMS 4 INSTALLATION DIAGRAMS How to install HEAT HERO with an open radiator zone and a secondary heat source 5 TECHNICAL DATA HEAT HERO CONSISTS OF TWO MILD STEEL MANIFOLDS __ TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION – HEAT HERO RETURN PORT 1 PORT 2 PORT 3 PORT 4 1’’BSP FEMALE 1’’BSP FEMALE 1’’BSP FEMALE ¾’’ BSP FEMALE PORT 5 PORT 6 PORT 7 1’’BSP FEMALE 1’’BSP FEMALE 1’’BSP FEMALE SOLID FUEL BOILER GRAVITY RETURN CONNECTION HOT WATER CYLINDER GRAVITY RETURN CONNECTION RADIATOR RETURN CONNECTION FLOW INJECTOR CONNECTION TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION – HEAT HERO FLOW SOLID FUEL BOILER GRAVITY FLOW CONNECTION HOT WATER CYLINDER GRAVITY FLOW CONNECTION RADIATOR FLOW CONNECTION GENERAL TECHNICAL INFORMATION – HEAT HERO RETURN Overall Length 170cm Maximum test pressure 6 Bar Overall Depth 60cm Maximum work pressure 4 Bar Overall Height 170cm Maximum Heat Capacity 40 KW Overall Weight 2 KG Material is Mild Steel 3mm Overall Length 158cm Maximum test pressure 6 Bar Overall Depth 60cm Maximum work pressure 4 Bar Overall Height 100cm Maximum Heat Capacity 40 KW Overall Weight 1.18 KG Material is Mild Steel 3mm GENERAL TECHNICAL INFORMATION –HEAT HERO FLOW Contact us: Telephone: 042 9673732, 086 8038863 Email: [email protected] Website: www.heathero.ie SMART INNOVATION PRODUCTS LTD T/A HEAT HERO, Shercock Road, Carrickmacross, Co.
