eGPS Brief Instruction Sheet v2.0, 06-11-2015 Page 1 of 1 eGPS brief instruction sheet Before the game:  Charge before use: o Use USB cable and charge from your computer, iPod or phone charger, or any other USB 5V adapter. o Orange = charge in progress, green = done o Some orange blinking at full charge is normal and keeps the battery topped up.  Insert micro SD card: o Socket is spring loaded. Push the card in until it clicks and stays in.  If the card does not slide in easily, remove and try again. Do not force it or jam it.  Press button to start capture:  Button is recessed; use the corner of neoprene pouch if having difficulty with finger. o Slow green flash  waking up, looking for first satellite fix  If green flashing is not started within 3 seconds, then press button to try again. o Rapid green flash  checking for valid data. This will continue until at least 128 consecutive valid data points are recorded. This usually takes 30 seconds or more and typically won’t complete unless GPS unit has a view of open sky. o Solid green light indicates data recording underway. o Red flashing  check SD card in slot and GPS_raw.csv file is present.  Put unit in neoprene pouch to keep out dirt, grass, and small amounts of water. o If heavy rain or puddles then put GPS inside zip-lock bag before inserting into pouch.  Put unit into pocket sewn into top of playing shirt, or vest.  When done recording, press and hold button 1 second (until orange light shows) to turn off. o No need to stop recording during the game. Just run the unit for the whole game and manage any key intervals later. After the game: Downloading and analysing data:  Insert SD card into computer, either in SD card slot or use USB adapter or card reader.  Use the eGPS template.xlsm file to process your data. Get the latest copy of the template from our website. Watch a short video walkthrough of how to use this or read below. eGPS template demo (YouTube)   Enable macros (also known as active content). Most functions within this spreadsheet are performed by macros. Green cells are an invitation for the user to input info. Minimal typing is needed. Most entries can be achieved using the timestamp button.  Import data. Use the browse data button to find the GPS_raw.csv data file if the template is not on the same card as your data.  Import a boundary outline you made earlier, or create one using the create boundary button, or the record boundary button if you walked or ran a lap of the oval following the boundary line.  Make entries that mark the start and end of each period of play by using the Fwd and Rev buttons to watch yourself run around the pitch. See yourself move into position at the start of each period, then run to the bench or team huddle at the breaks. Use the timestamp button to mark start and end of each playing period as required. o If you have a buddy playing the same match, you may be able to import all the splits for playing periods and breaks from a splits file. Make entries for any bench time in each period using timestamp method or use the automated bench estimator tool.   Check out stats, graphs of speed, and pitch maps via the tabs at the bottom. In the stats tab, enter desired thresholds for low, medium, high intensity and sprint stats.  Use the eGPS bulk worksheet tool to automatically process game data for your whole squad, or to summarise and compare previous data. eGPS Brief Instruction Sheet v2.0 06-11-2015 Page 1 of 1
