est average monthly temperature was recorded most frequently in January, less often in February, and rarely in December. The coldest month on record was January 1966, with an average temperature of -6° F. Except for 1955, when the 18-year highest mean maximums for April, May, July, and August were recorded, extremes in mean maximum and mean minimum temperature were scattered among the years and do not necessarily correspond with the average temperatures shown in figure 1. The average annual maximum temperature for the period was 45.6° F., ranging from 42.1 oF. in 1966 to 48.8° F. in 1952. Lowest mean maximums occurred most frequently in January and less often in February. The highest mean maximum usually occurred in July, occasionally in June, and only once in August. The highest mean maximum recorded was 81.9° F. for July 1955.
The average annual minimum for the period was 27.0o F., ranging from 23.4° F. in 1950 and 1951 to 29.9° F. in 1962. The lowest mean minimum occurred most frequently in January and occasionally in February. The highest mean minimum occurred most frequently in July, rarely in August, and only once in June. The low~st mean minimum recorded was -18.7° F. in February 1967. Table 2 shows the seasonal averages of mean maximum and mean mm1mum temperatures for winter (December, January, February), spring (March, April, May), summer (June, July, August), and autumn (September, October, November). The average winter minimum ranged from -9P F. to 4.5° F., with the maximum ranging from 7.2° F. to 21.1 oF. The average spring minimum ranged from 17.6o F. to 28.6° F., with the maximum from 36.3° F. to 50.9° F. The average
