eKEY Fob Tips The eKEY Fob converts the Bluetooth® signal generated by your smartphone or tablet to an infrared signal that can be received by Supra keyboxes. Below you will find very useful tips that may help you should you experience trouble accessing a lockbox key container during a showing. Pair with Bluetooth® Newer Android™ and Apple® devices are designed to automatically pair with the Bluetooth® at first communication. To automatically pair the Fob, make sure Bluetooth® is on, open the eKEY app, select Obtain Key, enter your pin, and press the button on the fob until the green light flashes. The Fob is successfully paired if the eKEY app prompts you to point at the keybox. To manually pair the Fob device to your smartphone or tablet, locate your device settings, select Bluetooth®, and make sure it is on. Once Bluetooth® is on, press the button on the Fob and wait for the Supra-XXXX item to appear on your device list. When Supra-XXXX appears, simply tap on it to pair. If you get a “Pairing Unsuccessful Supra-XXXX is not supported” message while trying to pair with an iPhone 4S or above, try pairing though the eKEY app by performing an obtain key operation. This will only work if you are using a Fob with 3 bumps in the back. LED Light The Fob device has a LED light to provide some information about what it is doing. The LED light on the Fob will blink red when the battery is getting low. When the light first blinks red, the Fob should be able to perform about 100 more operations. The low battery light may be intermittent, but as the battery runs down it will blink red more frequently until it blinks every time the Fob is used. The older version of the Fob, without 3 bumps in the back, requires two CR2016 disk batteries and although it will function with one battery, the LED light will always blink red. If the battery has been recently changed and the light blinks red, verify that there are 2 CR2016 batteries. How do I change the batteries? 1. Insert the tip of a mini flathead screwdriver into the notch on the side of the Fob and turn to open the case. 2. Carefully slide the battery/batteries and place it/them with the positive (+) polarity facing up. 3. Align the cover and press firmly to close. Resetting the Fob (with 3 bumps in the back) If the Fob wont pair with your device, perform a soft reset on your device. If after you reset your device the Fob does not pair, try resetting the Fob. To reset the Fob, press the power button until the green light flashes. Then press the button 5 times within 10 seconds. The green light will flash quickly several times and the Fob will turn off when it is successfully reset. You will now be able to pair the Fob to your device. Resetting the Fob (without 3 bumps in the back) If you have a Fob without the 3 bumps in the back, simply take the batteries out and place them back in to reset the device. Tip: When using an eKEY Fob to open an iBox BT or iBox BTLE, do not press up on the key container to turn the Bluetooth® radio. The eKEY fob communicates using an infrared signal. The iBox BT and iBox BTLE communicates using both Bluetooth® and infrared signals, but not at the same time. If you have turned on the Bluetooth radio on the keybox by mistake, wait for the light to stop flashing and then you can open the keybox using an eKEY Fob. Tip: Android™ devices communicate directly with the iBox BT and iBox BTLE without the use of a Fob. To obtain the key without the use of the Fob, simply push up on the key container to activate the Bluetooth® radio after you enter your four digit eKEY pin. Android devices require the use of the Fob with the original infrared iBox. Tip: Apple® devices require the use of the Fob device with the original infrared iBox and the iBox BT. Apple® devices do not need the use of a Fob device with the newer iBox BTLE. These boxes use low energy Bluetooth® technology that allows for direct communication. Simply press on the key container to turn the Bluetooth® radio after you enter your four digit eKEY pin. Tip: Make sure that your eKEY Fob is not paired with another device because pairing can fail. This can happen if you leave your Bluetooth®-enabled car running or talking on your phone with a Bluetooth® headset while trying to use your eKEY. 1070 EAST GREEN STREET, SUITE 100, PASADENA, CA 91106 PHONE 626.795.2455 www.pfar.org Knowledge Base 03/02/15 Norma Ramirez
