• WARNING - THE SURFACES ON THIS HEATER CAN BE HOT. • This heater is CE marked and meets current European Safety Directives. However, any heater type becomes hot in normal operation. Care must be taken to ensure that prolonged skin contact with the heater does not occur. WHERE YOUNG CHILDREN, INFIRM PERSONS, OR THE AGED ARE LIKELY TO BE LEFT UNSUPERVISED IN THE VICINITY OF THE HEATER WE RECOMMEND THAT A GUARD IS FITTED. touched by a person using a bath or shower. • IMPORTANT - Due to the newness of materials the heater will produce a slight smell for
the first few days of operation. ROOMS MUST BE WELL VENTILATED AND YOUNG CHILDREN, CAGED BIRDS, OR PERSONS WITH RESPIRATORY COMPLAINTS MUST NOT REMAIN IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE HEATER DURING THE FIRST 48 HOURS OF THE COMMISSIONING PERIOD. • IF, DURING ANY REASSEMBLY OF THE HEATER, A PART OF THE THERMAL INSULATION SHOWS DAMAGE OR DETERIORATION WHICH MAY IMPAIR SAFETY, IT SHOULD ONLY BE REPLACED WITH AN IDENTICAL DIMPLEX PART. • The heater must stand at least 50mm clear of any walls and 150mm below ceilings.
USER INSTRUCTIONS PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION •
The heater is designed to operate on ‘off peak’ electricity.
•
The heater stores heat when off peak electricity is available.
•
A fan in the heater delivers warm air through outlet grilles in the rooms or by duct-work.
•
The fan may be controlled by a room thermostat and/or a time clock.
CONTROL FUNCTIONS

1. Input control 2. Neon indicator 3. Fan switch 4. Fan Speed switch 5. Boost switch 1. INPUT CONTROL This control regulates the amount of energy taken by the heater during the hours when cheap rate electricity is available. Turning the knob clockwise increases the amount of heat stored. The setting should be adjusted to suit seasonal requirements. Max – during winter months, reducing the setting for autumn and spring use.
2. NEON INDICATOR & 3. FAN SWITCH To obtain heat from the heater unit press the fan switch to the ON position. The fan neon indicator light will now glow red. If the fan is controlled by a room thermostat it will switch off automatically when the room temperature reaches the required level. The fan should be switched off overnight. This function may be performed by installing a time clock.
CONTROL FUNCTIONS cont’d 4. FAN SPEED SWITCH The Fan Speed switch increases the airflow delivered by the heater unit. Using this switch produces a rapid rise in room temperature, which may be required, for example, first thing in the morning or when you return to an unoccupied/empty house.
5. BOOST SWITCH Note! The ‘Boost’ option may not be available from your heater. Check with your installer. If the fan is operating for long periods the heat stored overnight may be depleted. If selected at the time of installation day time electricity can be used to provide additional heat from the heater. To avoid unnecessary use of day rate electricity the outlet air temperature has to be below a pre-determined level before the heating elements operate. In addition, to minimise use of the ‘Boost’ ensure a full charge is taken from the off peak supply by setting the Input to MAX.
ROOM ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS The heater may be fitted with several additional controls. A room thermostat may be fitted to control the operation of the fan. Adjust until a comfortable temperature is reached. Note! The higher the setting the higher the running costs. A timeclock may be fitted to control the fan operating times. Where duct-work is installed individual rooms will be fitted with outlet vents. If a room is not in use the air vents should be closed.
COMMISSIONING The operation of heater must be set up and checked by the installing engineer in accordance with the installation instructions.
MAINTENANCE A limited amount of maintenance should be carried out regularly.
IMPORTANT – Switch off all mains supplies to the heater before cleaning the casing or removing the filter. To maintain the appearance of the heater, wipe occasionally with a dry cloth when the heater is cool. Do not use abrasive powders or furniture polish.
A washable filter is fitted to ensure the warm air distributed is clean and free from dust. The filter is located in the detachable lower panel and must be washed at least twice a year. The filter can be washed in warm soapy water, rinsed thoroughly and must be completely dry before refitting. The filter panel can be removed by pulling the top end away from the heater and lifting out the location hooks, remove the two metal bands before lifting out the filter.
Additional maintenance must only be carried out by a trained engineer or electrician. If the heater is not operating normally contact your installer or the Dimplex customer service department, (see next page for contact details). Regular inspection should take place, at least every two years.
