THE BEP DC DIGITAL MONITORING SYSTEM Designed and manufactured by BEP, these state of the art full colour monitors are made to meet the systems monitoring requirements of today’s modern vessel and recreational vehicle. Complex AC and DC electrical installations onboard are becoming more common place. Additionally the increase in tank monitoring requirements for fuel, fresh, grey and black water, accurate monitoring of these systems is essential. BEP TSI ULTRASONIC TANK SENDER The new BEP TSI Ultrasonic Tank Sender can be used on fuel (petrol or diesel), fresh water, grey water or black water tanks. One part number suits all tanks. Not suitable for tank depths less than 200mm The TSI is programmable for the following outputs, 240-33ohms, 10-180ohms, 10300ohms and 0-5volt. The TSI offers low profile and standard SAE 5 hole mounting pattern, allowing it to be retro fitted to practically all other sender brands. The TSI can be programmed for tank dimensions via a computer utilising BEP Marine’s proprietary TSI software, avoiding experimental tank filling on site. The TSI is configured to a 0-5v output and will connect straight into the BEP 600TLMN digital tank monitor. When configured to a 10-300ohms, 240-33ohm or 10-180ohm output the TSI can be connected to Teleflex, Faria, VDO and many other popular instrument brands. LOW VOLTAGE SENSITIVE RELAY The LVSR is BEP’s latest innovation in battery protection. If your vessel’s primary voltage falls below 11 V, the LVSR automatically detects this and switches the essential circuit load to a second battery. When the LVSR detects a rise to 13 V on the primary battery, it reverts to its original state, and the LVSRs alert light switches off. The primary application for this is to ensure power is available for bilge pumps on unattended boats during heavy rain conditions. If a second battery is not connected to the LVSR, it will act as a low voltage disconnect. Ideal for charter boats. Avoids batteries being totally discharged.

No. 25278 DUAL OPERATION VSR AND EMERGENCY PARALLEL The High Current Remote Operated VSR (Voltage Sensitive Relay), uses the same operation as the motor driven Battery Switches.

Dual battery sensing Remote emergency parallel function: the 701-MDVS and 720-MDVS can be operated through a momentary button on the dash which will parallel the batteries for a preset time of 10 minutes. Once this 10 minutes has passed, if the voltage is up high enough for the voltage sensitive switch to operate, it will stay engaged. If not, it will disengage. Engine run sensing: VSR will engage when the voltage on either start or house battery reaches 13.7 volts. If the combined battery voltage drops below 13.0 volts and the engine is not running, after 5 seconds the contacts will open and stay open until the start or house battery voltage exceeds 13.7 volts. If the combined battery voltage drops below 12.2 volts and the engine is running, after 5 minutes the contacts will open and stay open until the start or house battery voltage exceeds 13.7 volts. If voltage drops below 13 volts and stays above12.2 volts on either start or house battery while engine is running, the VSR will stay engaged. Manual override option The advantages of using a high current VSR is that it will cover your dual battery charging requirements and emergency parallel operation in one unit

M-POWER PURE SINE WAVE INVERTERS: M-Power Inverters simply and silently convert 12V DC battery power to 230V AC electricity. Ideal for operating mains powered devices when you don’t have access to shore power. The diagram below illustrates the difference between a modified sine wave and a pure sine wave AC supply (as seen through a scope). The modified output (although it follows a similar pattern) has sharp edges that protrude outside the normal shape of the smooth sine wave. SMARTGAUGE BATTERY MONITOR: While there are many battery monitors available that count ampere hours to display state of charge (by using a current measuring shunt), one drawback can be their accuracy over extended time periods. If you are prepared to periodically re-synchronise your monitor, then the BEP 600-DCM is a good example. If however, you don’t want to worry about whether your monitor is telling the truth or not and don’t want to have to regularly remind it of your batteries state of charge, then the SmartGauge is the ideal solution. Designed by Merlin’s own R&D team, the unit uses an advanced computer algorithm to display voltage (2 battery banks) and state of charge (1 battery bank), using just two or three wires. There is no need to cut into heavy negative cables to install a shunt, as the unit doesn’t require one. In addition to being very easy to install, SmartGauge is also very easy to operate – perfect if you’re not familiar with battery technology. The algorithm within the unit self compensates for changes in a batteries health and charge efficiency factor over time, ensuring that the unit remains accurate throughout the life of the installation. SmartGauge is suitable for both 12 and 24V systems and provides user settable alarms. SmartGauge can also be upgraded to control its own intelligent split charging system – see SmartBank Advanced.

SMARTBANK ADVANCED SYSTEM: SmartBank Advanced is an intelligent split charging system that interfaces with the SmartGauge battery monitor. The system consists of either one or two 200A rated split charging contactors (depending on your battery setup) and a small control CPU. The CPU connects to the SmartGauge monitor using a RJ11 telephone type cable. Based on what SmartGauge knows about battery state of charge and voltage, SmartBank Advanced continuously and automatically adjusts its settings to ensure the domestic batteries receive as much charge as is possible, whilst ensuring priority is always given to the starter battery. It also prevents the domestics cross discharging the starter battery. In a SmartBank Advanced system, the SmartGauge monitor will also automatically display split charging status. SmartBank advanced can either be purchased as an upgrade if you already own a SmartGauge, or as a full kit, complete with the monitor.

JENSEN MARINE SUBWOOFERS Since nothing sounds better than a track that really pumps out the bass, we advice a Jensen waterproof marine subwoofer. The amplified marine subwoofer (pos. 1) is water resistant (IPX5). It meets the ASTM standards for salt spray exposure and for UV exposure. It has conformal coated circuit boards. JENSEN MARINE REMOTE CONTROL Wired, with or without display These remote controls can be used in all exterior applications and can be easily mounted in any convenient location. They are waterproof (IPX6) and can be exposed to UV and salt water. With the MWR100 stereo functions are shown on a sunlight readable LCD display. Both remotes have blue button illumination and are CE certified. Installation is easy by means of a spin-on retaining ring. 5.5 meters connection cable included. The MWR100/ MWR75 corresponds with the MSR-series, the JWR200 is only suitable for the JMS series. To ensure a reliable and safe system, it is essential that cabling is carefully sized. This guide makes this quick and easy to do. The tables below provide sizing at a glance. Measure from your power source to the load and back again to obtain total circuit length (power source could be a switch panel, main bus bar or battery switch). Critical items(eg nav lights, bilge pump, instruments etc) use 3% voltage drop. For non-critical loads (eg fridge, lights etc), use 10%. If you cannot determine the right cable from the charts, use the calculation in the blue box (right). Work out the CM value and read off against the chart on the right. For example, take a 12V 40’ long circuit, driving an 18A non-critical load (Note: Length is calculated always in feet (divide metres by 0.3048): 10.75 x 18 x 40 = 7740 divide by 1.2= 6450. The nearest cable on the chart is 12AWG (3mm2)..
