The “MODE” button is used for changing the operation mode: -Only audio -Only video -AFV -Lock (green LED on) (red LED on) (both LEDS on) (both LEDS off, keypad locked). ELPRO Video Labs s.r.l. 5 Via della Praia, 4/A 10090 Ferriera di Buttigliera Alta (TO) ITALY Tel.+39 0119348778 – Fax +39 0119348779 TZM443 4x4 HIGH RES. & AUDIO MATRIX Switching is carried out by following the INPUTS - OUTPUTS sequence. Operationally: The 4 buttons with a built-in LED, called "INPUTS", are used for selecting a source. When a source is selected, it is immediately switched to the PREVIEW output. The 4 "OUTPUT" buttons are used for switching the previously selected input to the required output. If MODE AFV (Audio Follows Video) is enabled, the video and audio input signals are switched to the preview output and subsequently to the required output; if "only video" is enabled, the switching applies only to the video. This also applies to "only audio”. The status of the machine, including the preview, is shown on the LED matrix, which is installed on the unit front panel. The color of the LED indicates the type of signal on the output: -green indicates audio -red indicates video -orange indicates audio and video (AFV, namely Audio Follows Video). 5.1.1 Switching time setup from keypad: The TZM443 features the “through blank” switching mode. The switching time is useradjustable to permit the perfect matching with the destination device. This important feature prevents annoying effects coming from LCDs when switching a signal to their input. Since every LCD has its own response time, the user can change the through blank duration from 0.3 to 2 seconds to achieve optimal switching. There are four settable times: IN key LED Switching time 0.3 sec.; 0.5 sec.; 1 sec. and 2 sec. (In LOCK MODE) In order to display and setup the through blank IN 1 300 msec switching time with the keypad, the MODE button IN 2 500 msec must be in LOCK position. IN 3 1 sec. By doing so, the setup time will be displayed on IN 4 2 sec. the LEDs of the keys associated with inputs 1, 2, 3, and 4 with the following meaning: To set up a new switching time, it is necessary to hold down the required key for 2 seconds according to the time required. The default value is 500 msec. ELPRO Video Labs s.r.l. Via della Praia, 4/A 10090 Ferriera di Buttigliera Alta (TO) ITALY Tel.+39 0119348778 – Fax +39 0119348779 6 TZM443 4x4 HIGH RES. & AUDIO MATRIX The switching time setup, performed through the keyboard, is valid for all outputs of the matrix, including the preview output; whereas it is possible to set up a different time for every single output via a command from the serial line. In this case, the set time for output No. 1 will be displayed on the LEDs. The display of the connections on the LED matrix will follow the actual switching on the outputs; afterwards, the display of a switching command will be delayed for a period of time equal to the switching time. PLEASE NOTE Remember that switchings resulting from a RECALL command do not occur "through blank" 5.2 Keypad Setups By pressing a combination of keys, different commands and setups are possible for the TZM443 unit. In addition, it is possible to store 3 machine status presets and to recall them at a subsequent time. It is also possible to store a default configuration so that the machine will start up with a particular setup. Button Mode+Input1 Mode+Input2 Mode+Input3 Function Save status 1 Save status 2 Save status 3 Button Mode+Output1 Mode+Output2 Mode+Output3 Function Recall status 1 Recall status 2 Recall status 3 The 3 presets mentioned above are part of the 8 that can be recalled from the PC (as explained in paragraphs 7.6 and 7.7). Thus, we will have the possibility to save and recall: 3 configurations from the keypad 4 configurations from the IR remote control 8 configurations from the PC PLEASE NOTE Recalling a keypad preset, from the computer or from the remote control, also sets up the same configuration as a restart Mode for 2 sec. Machine status storage (one flash of the two MODE button LEDs indicates that the information has been stored). When started up again, the TZM443 will set up with the same status. Subsequent preset recalls from the keypad or computer will change the default configuration, thereby corresponding to the last recalled preset. All functions of the TZM443 matrix can be controlled by sending or receiving hexadecimal or ASCII character strings via a computer. The transmission protocol is of the multipoint master/slave type: the TZM443s are the slave machines, whereas the host which controls them is the master machine. Up to 8 TZM443 units, identified by addresses 0 – 7, can be connected to the 485 Bus. The serial connection features are: 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit speed that can be set at 2400 or 9600 bauds, The transmission speed, the address of the unit and the response time can be set via a special control from the RS232. The TZM443 response time is the time that should pass between the end of the reception of the command and the beginning of the transmission of the response. Such time allows the host to release the 485 bus and to get ready for the reception without causing conflicts. the following parameter defaults are automatically applied: - speed - unit address - response time = 9600 bit/sec = 0 (30 hex) = 32 ms Wait 150msec between one command and the other. Via della Praia, 4/A 10090 Ferriera di Buttigliera Alta (TO) ITALY Tel.+39 0119348778 – Fax +39 0119348779 18 TZM443 4x4 HIGH RES. & AUDIO MATRIX The protocol used requires all messages exchanged between the host and TZM443 to be between the following command characters: - commands from host to TZM443: STX ADDR command ETX - response of the TZM443 to host: STX ADDR response ETX The character STX corresponds to 02 hex, The character ETX corresponds to 03 hex, the field ADDR is the address of the TZM443: from 30 hex to 37 hex (namely from 0 to 7 in ASCII) The contents of the fields command and response are the same as the commands previously indicated for protocol RS232 with the exception of character CR (hex 0D) which, in this case, is skipped. 8.1 Managed Commands The commands which are possible to send via RS485 are all those required for the RS232 with the exception of the command “Set RS485 communication parameters”: - video and audio switching commands. - video switching command. - audio switching command. - status request - creating a preset - recall of a preset - firmware release identification request. - global mode request - set through blank switching time - through blank switching time request - set preview output - mute setup on preview output Example: In this case, the video switching control will have the following format: STX ADDR VXXYY ETX where: V is the character Hex 56 XX is the output (from 01 to 4) YY is the video input (from 01 to 4) The TZM443 matrix will respond: STX ADDR ACK ETX where: ACK is the character Hex 06 if the control has been executed correctly STX ADDR NACK ETX where: NAK is the character Hex 15 if it has found incorrect transmission or parameter errors. Hence, the switching control of video input 2 on bus 4 for the TZM443 with address 2 will be as follows: STX 2 V 04 02 ETX (in code Hex: 02 32 56 30 34 30 32 03) The matrix will respond with: STX 2 ACK ETX (in code Hex: 02 32 06 03) or with: STX 2 NACK ETX (in code Hex: 02 32 15 03) ELPRO Video Labs s.r.l. 19 Via della Praia, 4/A 10090 Ferriera di Buttigliera Alta (TO) ITALY Tel.+39 0119348778 – Fax +39 0119348779 TZM443 4x4 HIGH RES. & AUDIO MATRIX 9.0 TECHNICAL DATA VIDEO: Inputs :4, VGA/XGA or RGB/YUV analog 700 mVpp with HDD 15p.f.
