1.1 Functions and features With the EM6053 Video Balun Set you are able to connect camera’s on a large distance without using the limited BNC cable length of 20m. Using the EM6053 Video Balun Set you can reach up to 200m distance, and connect several camera’s using just one UTP cable. The best and easiest way to use the EM6053 Video Balun Set is to use one Video Balun Set on one camera with a prefabricated UTP cable (like EM6062).
1.2 Packing contents The following parts need to be present in the packing: • EM6053 Video Balun Set

2.0 What do you need in different scenarios You can use the EM6053 Video Balun Set in different scenarios. This manual will explain some scenarios.
2.1 Before you get started Before you mount the camera’s in the right place and want to connect all the wiring you should connect and try everything on a smaller scale. Just place the DVR, the camera’s and the EM6053 Video Balun Sets on your desk and connect it to the situation you desire. This enables you to keep an overview of the whole situation. Check the location of the camera’s and what you need to record before you mount the camera’s on the wall or ceiling. If you can place two or more camera’s in the same area (within one meter), you can use Video Balun Sets and one UTP cable to transport the video signal to your DVR. You need to consider if it is worthwhile to strip a UTP cable and to connect two or more camera’s in your situation before you continue.
2.2 Connect one camera on a large distance If you need to connect just one camera on a large distance, using a UTP cable like EM6062, you only need to use one EM6053 Video Balun Set. If you want to connect two (or more) camera’s on a large distance, there are two scenarios which you need to overview. Most important is the place where your camera’s will be installed. If the distance of two (or more) camera’s is larger then one meter, you do not have to strip the UTP cable but you have to use for each camera separately a UTP cable. In the table below is explained what you need: Camera's with spacing more then one meter 2 camera's 2x EM6053 Set 3 camera's 3x EM6053 Set 4 camera's 4x EM6053 Set Table 1 Camera's with spacing less then one meter 2 camera's 2x EM6053 Set 3 camera's 3x EM6053 Set 4 camera's 4x EM6053 Set Table 2

3.0 UTP Pin layout The RJ45 ports on the Video Balun set have a basic layout you need to know before you connect any type of UTP cable.
Figure 1.
Note that you need to use straight UTP cables. Both ends need to have exactly the same color on the same position. You will get the best quality using just one Video Balun Set for one camera. It is possible to connect two or more camera’s on just one UTP cable which we will explain in this manual. Take notice that one pair of power as drawn in Figure 1 will not be used when connecting two or more camera’s. This also might influence the signal quality over a longer distance.
4.0 How to connect a Video Balun Set indifferent situations You can use the Video Balun Sets in different situations and to connect one or more devices. In this manual we will explain the most common used situations. In all these situations we will use just one UTP cable (EM6062). Note! All chapters below will describe just one side of the cable. You need to mirror the situation on the other side of the cable as well to have a working connection in each situation. In most situations described in the next chapters you will need to strip the UTP cable and you will need to connect RJ-45 plugs on each side. If you only connect just one camera, you do not need to strip the UTP cable.

4.1 One camera and one Video Balun Set The best situation is to use one UTP cable and one Video Balun Set for each camera you want to connect. This enables you to get the best signal over the longest distance. You only need to connect the RJ-45 plugs of the UTP cable to each Video Balun, connect the Video Balun to the DVR and your camera and you are done.
In this situation both power and video will be transported over the UTP cable. So you do not need a separate power adapter.
Figure 2.
4.2 Connect a EM6029 30x Optical Zoom camera with one Video Balun Set In this situation 2 pairs of the cable will not be used. If you have a camera with Pan, Tilt and/or Zoom function, you can use one or both unused pair(s) to control the camera. Strip the UTP cable (for example the EM6062) and use 2 pairs of cable. One pair needs to be used for the video signal (for example Blue and Blue/White). The other pair needs to be used to power the camera (for example Green and Green/White).
Figure 3. For example, if you need to connect a EM6029 30x Optical zoom camera, you can use the Brown cable to connect to the 485A socket of the camera. And use the

Brown/White cable to connect to the 485B socket of the camera. Note that you do not need to connect this pair to the RJ-45 plug. This pair needs to be connected separately to both the EM6029 and the DVR.
Figure 4.
4.3 Two camera’s and two Video Balun Sets It is possible to get both power and video signals for two camera’s over just one UTP cable. Every camera needs four wires, one pair for video and one pair for power.
Figure 5. Connect two Video Balun sets to both ends of the UTP cable. Connect each Video Balun set to one camera and to one channel of the DVR
4.4 Three camera’s and three Video Balun Sets If you want to connect three camera’s, you need 3 pairs of the UTP cable. Each pair need to go to every camera you want to connect. You also need 3 RJ-45 plugs on both ends. you can use the unused pair for zoom and focus (if you use a EM6029 for example).

Note that you cannot power all three camera’s using the optional pair. You need three power adapters to locally supply power to each camera. For example the EM6060 power adapter.
Figure 6. Connect three Video Balun Sets to both ends of the UTP cable. Connect each Video Balun Set to one camera and to one channel of the DVR.
4.5 Four camera’s and four Video Balun Sets In this scenario, you can connect four camera’s to transport the image of these camera’s to your DVR. In this case you also need four power adapters to provide power for each camera on the spot.
Figure 7. Note that you will need to power the four camera’s on the spot using four separate power adapters (EM6060 for example). Connect four Video Balun Sets to both ends of the UTP cable. Connect each Video Balun Set to one camera and to one channel of the DVR
