SOLUTION OVERVIEW
FLEXIBLE DEPLOYMENT OPTIONS Avamar can be deployed in a variety of physical and virtual environments to meet specific business needs and data recovery objectives. For smaller remote offices, lightweight, efficient Avamar software agents can be deployed on servers with no additional remote hardware required. This enables data to be backed up directly via existing WAN links to a central Avamar server at the data center, eliminating reliance on tape devices. To protect larger remote offices and data centers, data can be backed up to a local Avamar server or EMC Data Domain system for faster recovery, and then replicated to another Avamar server located at the data center or remote disaster recovery site. When an Avamar server is required, there are several deployment options available: •

Select Backup Sets of typically backed up file types or individual files or folders that should be backed up on the schedule you determine. In addition, with Active Directory integration administrators can automatically trigger user creation, account setup and enable single sign-on with no employee interaction. All files selected for backup are securely protected through powerful encryption and secure off-site storage.
