The Encompass Gateway delivers critical functionality and interoperability between standards-based systems and proprietary systems. With the Encompass Gateway, you have a vendor choice when moving from your legacy systems. A WIDE ARRAY OF CAPABILITIES The Encompass Gateway is tightly integrated into the Harris VIDA® services core, allowing advanced call processing and remote configuration. In addition to basic group calls, the Encompass Gateway passes Caller ID, Emergency Calls and Console Pre-empt Calls between the Harris P25 system and your legacy radio system. You can remotely access and configure Encompass using a web-based Graphical User Interface from anywhere within the network. When RF-based connections are used, control stations interfacing to the existing system can also be remotely accessed to change talkgroups or make other settings as necessary.

The Encompass Gateway creates a fully interoperable infrastructure by linking your existing systems to VIDA. The result is a single and dependable network accessible by legacy users as new portables, mobiles and RF base stations running P25 are installed.
In addition to connecting to radio systems with proprietary interface formats, the Encompass Gateway provides interoperability to analog devices, using standards-based protocols.

By pairing the Encompass Gateway with the power of the VIDA core, users will not only be able to migrate to today’s P25 technology, but will also have access to 4G technology using their BeOnenabled handheld device or through Harris’ new XL-series radios. Customers will experience the convergence of LMR and LTE capabilities as soon as migration to VIDA begins.
Because the Encompass Gateway is an application, it runs as a Virtual Machine on the VIDA Application Server providing up to 32 interfaces to RF-based connections. Wired connections to the existing system can also be made using existing interface units. Additionally, conventional repeaters can be interfaced using direct serial connections.
The Digital Fixed Station Interface (DFSI) allows any compliant manufacturer’s base station to connect into a system’s core infrastructure. Through the Encompass Gateway, Harris provides an interface between DFSI base stations and the VIDA system. The full DFSI capability set is supported. The ability to integrate DFSI base stations into the VIDA network, will reduce the overall costs of the new system.

The Encompass Gateway brings together the capabilities of the Harris VIDA and BeOn® systems with those of the Harris ANPRC-117 Falcon® tactical radio. The Gateway presents audio from tactical radio users to the VIDA system where it can be mapped to specific radio talkgroups and heard by field personnel and dispatchers.
