The Battery Management System (BMS) uses a triple security system based on a combination of software and hardware security. The system is equipped with an analogue and digital fuel gauge output that makes it possible to add a sophisticated display showing all relevant data about the lithium battery pack. As an extra service feature the BMS models are equipped with a diagnostic output system which can be accessed from a laptop. When the engine is started and the starting battery reaches 13.7 volts, the VSR engages, allowing two battery banks (starting and house) to be charged simultaneously. When the voltage drops below 12.8 volts (e.g. the engine is stopped), the VSR disengages, separating the batteries. This system eliminates the possibility of draining the starting battery and protects sensitive electronic equipment powered by the house battery from harmful engine start up spikes.
