Fax Agent Registration & Configuration Guide This chapter describes the setup and configuration guidelines for the registration of fax agent services in FaxCore.
License Activation The following activation options are available namely online and offline to license the product for operation. Online License Activation Note: For online license activation, Internet access is required on the fax agent host server. 1. 2. 3.
On the server hosting the fax agent, click Start > Programs > FaxCore > FaxCore 2007 License Manager to launch the licensing manager and select Activate FaxCore 2007 followed by Continue to begin the activation process. At the subsequent activation screen, enter the activation key found on the license pack that came together with Figure 1.0.0 your software/server kit at the Activate attribute field and click Activate. Should you be provided with a set of user credentials together with the licensing pack, enter the respective details on the Registration subsection and click Register else, click Register Now and provide your registration Figure 2.0.0 info to complete the online activation process.

Offline License Activations Note: For offline license activation, follow the instructions below and send an email to
[email protected] together with the derived licensing information. 1. 2.

On the server hosting the fax agent, click Start > Programs > FaxCore > FaxCore 2007 License Manager to launch the licensing manager and select Activate FaxCore 2007 followed by Continue to begin the activation process. At the subsequent activation screen, enter the activation key found on the license pack that came together with your software/server kit at the Activate attribute field and click the Import Activation Certificate link to view the Figure 3.0.0 Import Activation Certificate screen. Include both the Installation ID and License Number values on your outgoing email to
[email protected] so that an engineer can generate the respective license certificate based on the information that you’ve provided to Figure 4.0.0 them. Upon obtaining the certificate number, copy and paste the value into the Import attribute field followed by clicking Import to complete the offline activation process.

Fax Agent Service Registration Fax Agent Registration (Brooktrout/FaxBack/Eicon) The fax agent registration process which involves the implementation of either following interface drivers: Brooktrout, FaxBack or Eicon. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Logon to the FaxCore admin panel and navigate to Network Settings > Fax Agent to view the current list of registered fax agents. If there are no fax agent registered, continue with the following steps below however, if the respective fax agent has already been registered then you may proceed directly to the Fax Agent Configuration process. Launch the Microsoft Services Management Console and stop the FXC2.FaxAgent service. On the server hosting the fax agent, browse to the FaxCore installation directory and under its root folder; edit the FaxAgent.exe.config file with a text editor. Locate the following line:
and revise the DriverType value to the interface driver that is currently being used followed by saving the changes. Example:

Logon to the FaxCore admin panel and navigate to Network Settings > Fax Agent to view the current list of registered fax agents. On the License Ports tab, begin provisioning the available channels on your interface driver by selecting the corresponding channel number from the Unlicensed Port list box and moving them to the Licensed Port list box Figure 5.0.0 followed by clicking Save. On the Configuration tab, specify a country code and an area code at their respective attribute field associated to Figure 6.0.0 the physical location of the fax agent host server followed by clicking Save.

On the Ports tab, check the Send and/or Receive options to correspond to the intended behavior for each of the Figure 7.0.0 fax channel/lines followed by clicking Save. On the Dialling Rules tab, specify the dial prefix and suffix for the respective dial types and if there are Custom Dialling Rules, input the expected dial string and its corresponding replacement string at the Custom Dialling Rule Figure 8.0.0 subsection followed by clicking Save.

On the Ports Group tab, you may leverage off the grouping function to assign outbound routing channel groups Figure 9.0.0 to be used by either an individual/domain or groups of users followed by clicking Save.

Figure 9.0.0 - Ports Group Tab Note: When either IP address or hostname changes on the fax interface host server, the fax agent must be removed and reregistered to capture these changes. The corresponding outbound routing rule must also be re-created to associate with the updated identifier number assigned to the newly registered fax agent.
Fax Agent Service Re-Registration WARNING! Prior to re-registering your fax agent, take a screenshot backup of all your fax agent tabs so you may peruse them upon re-registration of your fax agent to restore its configuration. You may also export your custom dialing rules into a regular text file which can be used later to restore the custom dialing rule post re-registration exercise. Agent Re-Registration 1. 2. 3.
Logon to the FaxCore admin panel and navigate to Network Settings > Fax Agent and remove the required fax agent by selecting the corresponding fax agent from the Fax Agent drop down list and click Delete. Next, based on the type of interface driver being used, follow the instructions listed under the Fax Agent Service Registration sub-section to re-register the fax agent. Upon completing the fax agent re-registration process, restore the fax agent configuration by referring to the screenshot backups taken earlier as well as the exported custom dialing rules.
