Epson BrightLink Basics What you need to get started Special Driver Needed: Using the Epson BrightLink requires a driver that must be installed on your computer (this is already installed on the Lecture Hall laptop). Please submit a ticket to Mr. Swiderski if you need this driver installed on another laptop. The interactive driver icon in your computer's taskbar looks like this.
I See a Big Red X: If the driver icon (located on the taskbar) has a big red X through it, that means it cannot "see" the BrightLink projector. Be sure the projector is powered on and the USB cable from the projector to your computer is plugged in.
Using the Projector with the computer or VCR: To use the projector with the laptop, choose “Computer” on the Epson remote. To use the projector with the VCR (cable channels) choose “Video” on the Epson remote. You can also adjust volume with the Epson remote. NOTE: to change cable channels use the Toshiba VCR remote instead.
Launching the Tools: To launch the interactive tools doubleclick on the tools icon found on the desktop. If for any reason the icon is not on the desktop select Start> My Computer> Local Disk (C:)> Program Files> Epson Projector> Easy Interactive Tools> EIN_TOL
The Bright Link Pen: The BrightLink pen is available in the office. When using the pen remember: • Press the button on the side of the pen to test the battery (green is good). • Hold the pen at an angle (rather than perpendicular). • To Left-Click (like a mouse), tap the board with the tip of the pen. • To Right-Click (like a mouse), tap while pressing the button on the pen. • To click and drag (like a mouse), tap and drag with the pen. Epson BrightLink Calibration Required first time using a computer, changing computer resolution, or image size on projector
Step 1: Using your mouse, right click the BrightLink driver icon in the taskbar. A submenu will appear. Choose "Calibrate (Advanced)". After reading the message about calibration, click OK.
Step 2: Touch the center of the flashing circle in the upper left hand corner of the projected image using the BrightLink pen.
Note: Do not use the pen's side button during calibration. The circle stops flashing and turns black. You see another circle on the right. Touch the center of the next circle and repeat. When you get to the end of the row the next circle will appear on the left. Continue until all of the circles are black.
Step 3: After all the buttons have been calibrated you can begin using the pen as a mouse.
