The ultimate bookshelf speaker for esoteric audiophiles. Krix’s classic Esoterix speaker is revisited with this new model, created for a new tide of music technology as well as the resurgence in vinyl records. With its unique waveguide, the Esoterix Altum will pull you in to the sound, like the tide. Having just graduated from University, Scott’s newly acquired engineering skills allowed him to start making custom built speakers for his friends, and then friends of friends, and so it went. The renowned Scanspeak Revelator tweeter has been incorporated into the Esoterix Altum design. This high frequency driver is highly regarded throughout the industry for its ability to deliver extreme definition and detail with a very smooth response. The bass and midrange are superbly handled by a 6.5” driver incorporating leading edge transducer technology, highlighted by an innovative cast aluminium basket and a large neodymium-iron-boron magnet for increased power handling. The cone is made of natural wood fibre and utilises a proprietary coating to improve clarity and frequency response. It wasn’t long before Krix started getting some serious attention from music lovers Australia wide, who were looking for the best sound experience they could find. The rest is history. Over 40 years later, the dedicated and passionate Krix team have built many outstanding award-winning speakers in their ever-expanding Adelaide factory, including legendary models like the original Esoterix, Impax and Neuphonix. In developing this revolutionary speaker, the Krix engineering team paid particular attention to imaging – the meticulously engineered waveguide reduces distortion and controls directivity to present a sound stage much larger than expected and ensures an accurate and detailed stereo image is delivered. The Esoterix Altum is a refined speaker, designed to truly enhance the full two channel listening experience, whether playing old favourites on vinyl, or enjoying the definition and detail of the latest hiresolution tracks. The crossover has been expertly designed to seamlessly meld the two drivers together using close tolerance, high grade components. The distinctive fully-mitred cabinets provide a seamless look with no visible joins, while the striking prismatic geometry results in a very rigid, low resonance enclosure that integrates the components perfectly and minimises standing waves.
