Essential ESS-2000,
a 32-port HIPPI 800 switch, is a non-blocking, cutthrough crossbar switch for serial and parallel HIPPI network connectivity. The base chassis supports hot-swappable port cards, redundant power supplies, and single-side serviceability. The Switch Control Card (SCC) allows direct management of the switch through a RS-232 serial connection. Configuration access via telnet is provided by the native Ethernet interface on the SCC. Integrated switch management software, using SNMP, allows easy switch configuration, traffic routing, statistics gathering, alternate path routing, hunt group definition, and troubleshooting. Each of the switch’s 16 slots supports a dual serial or dual parallel Media Interconnect Card (MIC). Serial HIPPI MICs are available in both short serial (850 nM wavelength) and long serial (1300 nM wavelength) versions. The switch supports any combination of SBS MICs up to a maximum of 16. Multiple switches can be interconnected in a link-aggregation fashion potentially allowing very high switch-to-switch bandwidth transportation. With the lowest latency connection times in the industry and full ANSI compliance, the ESS-2000 has proven to be a cost-effective and efficient solution for entertainment and high-tech laboratory applications that need to rapidly move large volumes of data in realtime.
