TDK CFastTM Controller GBDriver ® RS3 Employed Life Monitor Software Included, Data Randomizer Function + Auto Refresh Function Equipped 1.0-inch SATAIIⅡ CompactFlash™ TDK᾿s CAG3B series of high-reliability CFast™ drives is high-speed CompactFlash™ drives supporting serial ATA 3Gbps. The series features high-speed data transfer speed of twice that of existing products with the same size as an IDE CompactFlash TM card (CF card) by equipped with a serial ATA (SATA) interface. For example, an embedded CPU board generally uses a CF card as its boot device, but, recently, SATA I/F instead of parallel ATA (PATA) I/F has increasingly been adopted in many CPUs and chipsets, resulting in less opportunities to connect a CF card directly to a CPU. Even when a CF card is connected to a CPU via a SATA bridge IC, PATA data transfer speed and bridge IC performance create bottlenecks, and the advantages of high-speed SATA transfer are lost. This series has achieved an ef fective high-speed data transfer of 105MByte/sec, giving very rapid system booting. It ensures absolute data
reliability and minimizes data error risks with a newly adopted 44bit ECC, data randomizer function, auto refresh function. Furthermore, TDK Smart Swap a high-level global static wear leveling algorythm developed by TDK, has achieved the longest CFast™ life in the industry. Also, CFast™ life monitor software “TDK SMART”, allows the number of times of programming (erasing) for all memory blocks to be acquired in real time as SMART information, thus enabling the drive lifespan to be quantitatively known. The CAG3B series has also adopted AES128bit encryption function, ATA-standard security function, and TDK᾿s unique password lock function, it is able to prevent falsification leakage, and unauthorized copying of private and business information. It also supports the ATA Trim command allowing complete and easy deletion of all drive data when the drive is disposed of or replaced.

Equipped with 15bits/512Bytes, 44bits/1KByte ECC (Automatically selected by the flash memory).

Equipped with a data randomizer function. Data patterns are automatically randomized during the write process, to minimize the risk of bit errors due to writing the same data repeatedly.

Equipped with an auto refresh function. While there is no access by the host, internal data are automatically refreshed. This function is paused during access, so there is no delay in response. Also, an auto recovery function incorporated.

Equipped with an advanced global static wear leveling function “TDK Smart Swap” algorithm. This algorithm counts the number of times each memory block is erased (programmed) and replaces blocks uniformly, which drastically improves endurance of the installed flash memory. (*2) The 32GB type for example supports approximately 3.1 billion erase cycles. Even at a rate of 5 erases per second, this equates to an expected service life of 20 years. (*3)

TDK's proprietary algorithm reduces the risk of collateral data errors such as corruption of data other than the data being written if power is interrupted when writing data.

CFast™ life monitor software “TDK SMART” is included. Drive lifespan can be checked quantitatively in real time, allowing easy maintenance.

The function allows customers to set and remove a password and erases data securely. By combining the AES encryption function, it is possible to prevent unauthorized copying. 12. Equipped with an ATA standard Trim function. The function allows complete deletion of all drive data, which ensures easy replacement or safe disposal. 13. Dedicated FAE (Field Application Engineer) system provides speedy and reliable solutions e.g. system compatibility verification and customizing. 14. Complies with RoHS directives. The components, lead terminals, etc. are all free from hazardous substances prohibited by the RoHS Directives of the EU (European Union). (*1) Dependent on flash memory connection configuration and system environment. (*2) The scope of static wear leveling execution can be customized. (Outside the scope of static wear leveling execution, dynamic wear leveling is executed) (*3) This applies to a product equipped with an SLC flash memory with a structure of 8KByte/page.
