Expansion RAID Storage 3U Rack Mount Version 2 1 A. Carefully unpack the Expansion RAID Storage. (The Hard Drive modules are shipped in a separate compartment.) What’s In the box Standard Items 1 5 9 13 2 6 10 14 3 7 11 15 4 8 12 16 Expansion RAID Storage Rail Kit 16x Hard Drive Modules 2x Power Cords Primary Unit (Fibre Channel or iSCSI) B. If you plan to install the unit in a standard 19” IT rack, attach the rails to the rack then slide the chassis onto the rails. Expansion #1 C. After mounting and installing the chassis, proceed to unpack the Hard Drive Modules. Carefully unpack the Hard Drive Modules and properly insert them into the chassis. Since the hard drives are preconfigured into Disk Groups, the hard drives should be installed in the correct order. Expansion #2 Expansion #3 • Starting from the top left corner, HDD #1 is the first to be installed. • Starting from the bottom right corner, HDD #16 is the last to be installed. Expansion #4 D. Connect the dual power cables and SAS cables as indicated: 1x SAS Cable QuickStart Guide Drive Lock Key (behind LCD) 2 Required Accessories (not in the box) • American Dynamics iSCSI or Fibre RAID Storage (Rack)* 3 Optional Accessories (not in this box) • Connect the primary unit (Fibre Channel or iSCSI RAID) “JBOD” connector to the Expansion #1 I/P 1 connector. • Connect Expansion #1 O/P connector to Expansion #2 I/P 1 connector. • Connect Expansion #2 O/P connector to Expansion #3 I/P 1 connector. • Connect Expansion #3 O/P connector to Expansion #4 I/P 1 connector. 5 Power Up After all of the cables are connected, proceed to power ON the Expansion RAID Storage Unit(s). Power switch is located on the rear of each unit. Power on the Expansion units first and then power on the primary unit. • American Dynamics Expansion RAID Storage (Rack, up to 4 units per iSCSI or Fibre RAID Storage)* 4 Connections Power Power Rear Panel SAS OUT (O/P) SAS IN (I/P 1) ☞ Be sure to use an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS). ☞ Be sure to use surge protection and provide appropriate grounding. ☞ Always follow appropriate safety precautions. ☞ Always power on the peripheral devices (e.g. storage) before powering on the Host PC (NVR Server). 6 Usage Refer to the User Manuals of the iSCSI or Fibre RAID Storage for further information. Note: You MUST use the integrated RAID Storage Manager to check the hardware status and utilize the RAID storage.
