Download and save this file: http://www.autonomic-controls.com/kb/index.php?View=file&EntryID=10 - Place the file in the root directory of a name brand USB thumb drive. - Insert the USB thumb drive into the USB port of the MMS. - Wait for 30 seconds while the MMS runs the application, then remove the thumb drive. You can now determine the new IP address of the MMS by inserting the USB drive in to a computer and reading the text file created on the USB drive. Support 1 Disable Gracenote Displays or sets the value for the Gracenote feature. Gracenote is enabled by default to augment music metadata. It may be necessary in high latency and/or low bandwidth scenarios to disable this feature. Syntax EnableGraceNote [boolean arg1] Parameter Description Optional. If expression is: arg1 • - Returns current setting • - Enabled • - Disabled Example EnableGraceNote False Disables Gracenote Disable Gracenote 2 Using the MMS in Low Bandwidth/High Latency Environments Using the MMS in Low Bandwidth / High Latency Environments Updated: 2015-09-23 Category: Streaming Services Products: Mirage Media Servers Problem Description An MMS installed in environments with low bandwidth and/or high latency environments (such as a yacht) specific settings are recommended to optimize the system's performance. Resolution Review the KB for articles including: http://www.autonomic-controls.com/kb/index.php?View=entry&EntryID=162 http://www.autonomic-controls.com/kb/index.php?View=entry&EntryID=163 http://www.autonomic-controls.com/kb/index.php?View=entry&EntryID=75 Using the MMS in Low Bandwidth/High Latency Environments 3 Mirage Amplifier Doorbell Preset Wiring Both the M-400 and M-800 series amplifiers offer a doorbell feature. With this feature a preset doorbell sound can be played out of a select group of zones or all the zones in the system by triggered contact closure. The type of doorbell sound, volume level and zones will be configured under the doorbell tab on the amplifier web configuration page. WARNING: Navigating to the doorbell tab will cause the doorbell preset sound to play out of the amplifier, this sound may be really loud and cause damage to your speakers. It is recommended that you do not navigate to the doorbell page without first disconnecting the speakers! The doorbell is triggered by applying a 12 volt signal to P1 or P2 respectively, P1 will trigger the doorbell sound in all zones while P2 will trigger the doorbell sound in zones selected in the configuration page. The doorbell will sound once voltage is applied then removed, allowing the doorbell function to operate in both a normally open or a normally closed trigger configuration. Normally open configuration (30 seconds of source mute): Once the circuit is closed the currently playing audio source will mute for 30 seconds and doorbell sound will be heard. (If muting the source audio for 30 seconds is undesirable it is recommended that you use the Normally closed configuration and a relay device that will convert the normally open circuit to a normally closed circuit (see illustration B) (Illustration A. Normally open or Normally closed with no light) Normally Open --OR-Normally Closed Will operate in the same manner. Doorbell sound will be heard once contact is opened again. If contact is left closed music source will resume instantly after doorbell sound is heard. If contact is left open music source will resume after 30 seconds of doorbell sound. Illustration B. Normally closed using relay and no 30 second delay, no light) Mirage Amplifier Doorbell Preset Wiring 4 This is the method of doorbell wiring with an Altronix RB5 or similar relay board. This relay board will convert the normally open doorbell button to a normally closed, eliminating the 30 second mute. Music source will resume instantly after doorbell is heard using this setup. (Illustration C. Normally open or Normally closed with light) Normally Open --OR-Normally Closed Doorbell with light can be used if the light is wired separately from the doorbell button in the manner illustrated. If an LED light is used wire it in series with a current limiting resistor. Will operate in the same manner. Doorbell sound will be heard once contact is opened again. If contact is left closed music source will resume instantly after doorbell sound is heard. If contact is left open music source will resume after 30 seconds of doorbell sound. Mirage Amplifier Doorbell Preset Wiring 5 MMS - How to Add Devices to the DealerZone Autonomic attempts to proactively add new devices to your DealerZone account at the time of purchase. It may be necessary (e.g. cases such as legacy devices or customer takeovers) for you to explicitly associate an MMS with your DealerZone account. Associating systems not already added to your Dealer Zone account can be done in three ways - (1) from the MMS configuration page or (2) using the DealerZone discovery (3) submitting log files from the MMS. From the MMS Config Page: 1) Navigate to the Server Settings tab of the server's configuration page. 2) Enter your DealerZone credentials in the Assigned To area to associate the device to your account. If the "Assigned to" option is not available, you will likely need to update the MMS firmware to the currently supported version. From the DealerZone: 1) Log into the DealerZone from a system on the same local network as the MMS 2) Navigate to the DealerZone Device Manager 3) At the bottom of the page, review the list of additional devices reporting from your current public IP address 4) Select the device to add to take ownership. From Logfile Submission: If you have submitted log files from your device, we will attempt to match the device with the company identified in your support case. This method is not immediate and not prefferable to the other methods listed above. MMS - How to Add Devices to the DealerZone 6 Mac Sync Software Not Operating as Intended When having difficulty using the Mac Sync Software, follow these troubleshooting steps: First, open the Mac Sync Tool by selecting the sync icon in the top right hand corner. Check the version, located at the bottom of the interface. Compare this to the version on the server's configuration page under the content section. Unless directed by support, the client device should be running the same version available on the server. If the computer is running an older version, download and install the new software on the client. You will see a little blue cloud appear at the top right of the screen near the clock which you will want to select and choose "Show" to access the software settings. To Reinstall the Sync Software: 1. Turn off all syncing options and exit out of the Mac Sync software. 2. Right click or hold Control and click the sync tool icon in the top right corner. 3. Select the option to quit. 4. In the applications folder on the computer, run the Mac Sync installer 5. Follow the prompt step by step until the software is reinstalled. After which you will see the blue software icon return in the top right corner. If you receiving errors while installing the Mac Sync Software, check that the current user has full administrative permissions for that computer. If you have recently updated to iTunes 12.2 or higher, please make sure the 'Share iTunes Library XML with other applications' box is checked in iTunes Preferences->Advanced. If you are experiencing issues after updating and you've verified the system settings are correct, consider downloading the log files for further support. To download the log files, open the sync software and select the option under the advanced section. Once the log files have downloaded they will be located in a new Autonomic Controls folder within the home folder on the computer. Please send these log files to [email protected] along with a description of the issue, the Mac OS, and as much related information as possible about the issue. Mac Sync Software Not Operating as Intended 7 MMS - Reset to DHCP Updated: 11/14/2014 Products: MMS-2, MMS-5A If you have set up the MMS for a static IP address and can no longer connect to the configuration web page, you can use this utility to change the LAN settings from a static IP (manual configuration) back to DHCP. - Download and save this file: http://www.Autonomic-Controls.com/Documents/DMS20/Mirage/Util/ResetToDHCP.EXE - Place the file in the root directory of a name brand USB thumb drive. - Insert the USB thumb drive into the front panel of the MMS. - Wait for 30 seconds while the MMS runs the application, then remove the thumb drive. To begin syncing music to an Autonomic server, download the Autonomic Media Synchronization software from the server's Config page (under the Content tab) to the computer that contains the source music. Follow the steps as prompted in the download screen when installing. When installed, the icon will appear in the lower right hand corner (for PC) or the top right hand corner (iMac). To configure the Sync Software: Open the sync software by clicking the icon and selecting open. 1. Click the dropdown at the top. 2. Click Add Server. 3. Type in the server's IP Address in the popup. 4. Click Add in the popup. In the tab named "iTunes", check the sync option you would like to use when syncing iTunes content and select apply changes. If there is content that is not in iTunes that you would like to sync, navigate to the tab for Additional Content. You can browse to the location of the folder and once selected choose the option to apply changes. In the status tab, ensure the option to automatically sync with the server is checked. Once configuration is complete, the sync software will synchronize the selected source locations on the computer with the server. This initial sync can take many hours to complete, depending on network speed and library size. At any future time music which is added or deleted from iTunes or selected folders, will be reflected on the server after the next sync occurs. If syncing an iTunes library that contains content that is iTunes protected (DRM content such as m4p files), you will need to enter the associated iTunes account on the MMS server. Navigate In the server's config page under the content tab to the iTunes section. Enter the iTunes account information and select save changes. THIS IS ONLY NECESSARY if the MMS library contains DRM tracks. Non-DRM content will be able to play without an iTunes account configured. MMS - Sync Tool - Media Sync Configuration 12 Murfie Login Problem with Complex Passwords As of this notice, Murfie does support complex passwords when used through our Mirage integration. If your account credentials fail authentication with the Mirage Media Server it may be because your password contains non-alphanumeric (special) characters. The Murfie website itself does not have this limitation, Workaround: Please log in to your Murfie account through their web interface and change your password to use only alphanumeric characters. Set the same Murfie credentials within the Mirage configuration screen. Murfie Login Problem with Complex Passwords 13 MMS - Opening the Mirage app programmatically from Crestron You are able to call the Mirage app via the mirage:// handler. There are a few options you can pass. The port is optional and defaults to 5004. You can also leave the MMS Instance blank as long as you include the "/" before it and the "?callback=" after it. The IP address is required. For the callback url, insert whatever handler is appropriate for the app you'd like to return to. mirage://:/?callback= Examples: 1.mirage://192.168.1.58:5004/Player_B?callback= 2.mirage://192.168.1.58/Player_B?callback= 3.mirage://192.168.1.58:5004/?callback= 4.mirage://192.168.1.58/?callback= To switch back to the Crestron app from the MIrage app: Crestron Mobile now has a registered URL scheme called "Crestron://" Invoking this url on the iOS device will open Crestron Mobile if it is installed on the device. For example, you could enter this URL in the Safari browser on the device and Crestron Mobile will open. Also, any other application can use this URL to launch Crestron Mobile. To be able to navigate back to the app that launched Crestron Mobile, there is a Return to Launch App Reserved Join. The format for the return to app string is as follows: crestron:// ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The link below is a builder for the top instructions. You can enter your information and then copy the URL provided to the appropriate place in your integration. http://autonomic-controls.com/documents/ios/tools/urlbuilder/ MMS - Opening the Mirage app programmatically from Crestron 14 MMS - Control Protocol - Browse by letter Valid Browse-type commands for which this process will be useful are: BrowseAlbums BrowseArtists BrowseTitles BrowseGenres BrowsePlaylists BrowseComposers BrowseFavorites I'll demonstrate the syntax with the BrowseArtists command. A Browse-type command takes two arguments and where is the index or letter at which you would like to start browsing and is the number of list items you want in the returned data. For example: BrowseArtists f 8 would return the 8 artists at the beginning of the F section. Similarly, BrowseArtists 9 8 would return 8 artists starting at the 9th artist. Once the data is returned, the scrolling will work automatically without you doing any additional programming. The scrolling buttons and list will auto-populate internally of the module. MMS - Control Protocol - Browse by letter 15 MMS - Crestron - On Screen Display Navigation Commands To use onscreen navigation on an MMS, you will first need to set the instance that is being controlled, using the command SetOSDInstance followed by the instance name (Main, Player_A, Player_B, Player_C, or Player_D) For Example: SetOSDInstance Main SetOSDInstance Player_B Next, you will need the command SendRemote where is up, down, left, right, or ok. For example: SendRemote Up SendRemote OK For press and hold on the d-pad commands, you can append the command with the suffix "_press", followed by "release". This will cause the OSD to scroll quickly after 1/2 second. For Example: SendRemote down_press The scroll will be cancelled by sending a release command, or any other navigation command: SendRemote release -or- SendRemote up_press If using Crestron, send all commands through the TX$ on the MMS modules' TCP/IP client. Alternatively, send these commands directly to port 5004 on the server. MMS - Crestron - On Screen Display Navigation Commands 16 MMS - Crestron - Search by title All commands should be sent to the TX$ on the TCP/IP client for the module in question with the requisite CRLF or \x0D\x0A at the end of each command. To search by track title, use the following sequence: setmusicfilter clear ClearMusicFilter Ok setmusicfilter Search="*string*" MusicFilter Ok browsetitles 1 8 Where string is the search string. For example setmusicfilter clear ClearMusicFilter Ok setmusicfilter Search="*icar*" MusicFilter Ok browsetitles 1 8 BeginTitles Total=1 Start=1 Alpha=0 Caption="Titles containing 'icar'" Title {a73ab9c6-8747-2968-88b2-d6f71fb9d40b} "Vicarious" "00:07:06" 1 "Tool" "10,000 Days" -1 "" "" EndTitles NoMore An important note about all Browse-type commands is the syntax. For example, BrowseTitles takes two arguments as follows: BrowseTitles where is the index at which you want to start browsing and is how many. Once you have browsed to a category, scrolling will be handled automatically by the module. the value should match what you have set for the List Item parameter value on the Crestron module. Therefore, realistically, you would almost always issue BrowseTitles 1 . To browse by letter: Instead of specifying a list index to start browsing at, you can also specify a letter, as follows: BrowseTitles 8 where is any single alpha character. For example, BrowseTitles t 8. Telnet is not enabled by default in Windows Vista/7/8. To enable it, follow the instructions below: 1. Open Windows Control Panel 2. Open the "Programs" panel group 3. Select "Turn Windows features on or off" 4. In the popup Window check "Telnet Client". 5. Click Ok. 6. When the Window closes, the telnet client will be enabled on your system. Enabling Telnet in Windows Vista/7/8 23 Airplay Tips High quality lossless audio transfer requires a network with sufficient bandwidth and low latency. In order to have the best possible experience using the Airplay feature, a well performing Wi-Fi network is essential. If the response times on the network are greater than 10ms, or highly variable, you may experience disruption in audio, usually in the form of audible gaps in playback and/or audio crackling. To test the condition of the wireless network, begin by testing the ability of any wireless device to reach the router. If a laptop is available, open a command prompt or terminal window and attempt to ping the router. In order to help avoid interferece or wireless range limitations, start by testing the wireless device as close as possible to the wireless router. If a laptop is not available, you can attempt to ping an iOS device from a wired computer and again check for responsiveness. You may also attempt to AirPlay directly from iTunes of a wired computer in order to test for any sound trouble. If you have found the symptoms described above when using Airplay, there are a few available options. Some routers may be have advanced setup options to allow changes to upload speed and range. If the router is not performing well, it may need to be replaced, firmware updated or moved to a more central location. In cases where range is an issue, a wireless extender or signal booster may help. Note: MMS Firmware version 1.51 and higher has an additional feature for setting the buffer size available on Airplay streaming higher than the default 2 seconds. Below are some additional tips for better Airplay connectivity: â ¢ Upgrade your Apple device to the latest iOS version. â ¢ Minimize the number of apps that are running on your iPod touch/iPhone/iPad. â ¢ Minimize the number of Wi-Fi devices on the network. â ¢ Multiple simultaneous activities over wifi in the household (web browsing, file downloads, movie streaming, etc.) can effect AirPlay audio streaming performance. â ¢ If the router offers "Auto Channel Scan" option, enable it. This minimizes Wi-Fi connectivity interference when there are multiple Wi-Fi networks in the vicinity. â ¢ If you are using AirPort Extreme, make sure "802.11n (802.11b/g compatible)" is selected for Radio Mode. Do not select options with "802.11n only". â ¢ AirPlay performance can be affected if the Apple device is shielded by metallic material. Take off any protective metal case from the Apple device. â ¢ If the router offers "Wireless Intelligent Stream Handling (WISH)" option or "Quality of Service (QoS)" option, consider configuring these to improve AirPlay streaming performance. â ¢ If the Bluetooth feature of any device in the vicinity is on, turn it off. â ¢ Check the firmware version of your router. Please contact your router supplier to upgrade the latest firmware version. Airplay Tips 24 Airplay Across VLAN's and Subnets Special settings may need to be added to your router to allow Airplay discovery and streaming across different VLAN's and subnets. The routes listed below need to be configured: From WiFi (iOS) to the LAN (MMS) Destination port TCP port 700 UDP ports 1 through 65535 From LAN (MMS) to WiFi (iOS) Destination port TCP 7000 TCP 7100 TCP 49152 through 50000 UDP 1 through 65535 Airplay Across VLAN's and Subnets 25 MMS - Submitting Log files to Support When a MMS is experiencing issues, log files can be instrumental in diagnosing the underlying problem. Autonomic support will commonly request log files to be submitted for their review. Logs usually contain the last several days of activity, but the amount of history will depend on system usage and verbosity of messages recorded. If the problem has not occured recently it may no longer be contained in the current log file. We would recommend reproducing the error if possible before log submission. To send logs directly from the server to Autonomic support. 1. Record a description of the problem and the approximate time the error occured. 2. Navigate to the server's web configuration page (http://server-ip/config) 3. The logging section is found at the bottom of the Server Settings tab. 4. Please supply your e-mail address and a detailed description of the issue you experienced and approximate time the issue occurred. 5. If you have an existing support case, place the SRX# in the comments. SRX# must be formatted as [#SRX00000]. Without the SRX#, a new case will be created, potentially delaying a response. If you do not have an existing case, please include the details of the issue you are experiencing and your contact information. 6. Once the above fields are filled out, click the Upload Log Files button. MMS - Submitting Log files to Support 26 MMS - AirPlay - How To Configure The MMS-2, MMS-2A, MMS-5 and MMS-5A support AirPlay. For the best experience, we recommend updating to the latest available firmware on your MMS. You can update the firmware either through the server's configuration page or via the DealerZone. To enable Airplay: 1. Navigate to the Source Settings tab on the MMS's configuration page. 2. If you are using a Mirage amplifier, make sure the correct IP is selected in the Amp selection. If you are using any other amplifier select NONE in the drop down box. 3. At the bottom of that page, you will see a section for AirPlay. 4. If you wish to password protect the AirPlay availability, enter password (if desired); otherwise leave the field empty. 5. If using a Mirage Amplifier, you will see a list of zones corresponding to the zones available on the amplifier. If using the MMS without a Mirage amplifier, you will see a list of the each output from the server. These are the potential Airplay sources. 6. Check the outputs/zones you would like to be available for AirPlay usage. You can use as many sources as are listed. 7. Click Save Changes on the page once completed. 8. Each output/zone will appear as an Airplay target on your iOS device or in iTunes. MMS - AirPlay - How To Configure 27 MMS - Recommended IP and DNS Settings Problems such as occassional lose of browsing, streaming services, and/or your MMS dropping off line, may be the result of the DHCP or DNS settings on your MMS. We recommend using a static IP address on your MMS. This may either be configured as (1) setting a static IP address on the MMS configuration page (2) setting the MMS Configuration to DHCP with an IP reservation on the network router. In either case, we recommend the use of Google's DNS servers 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 If you continue to have trouble after making these changes, please contact support for more troubleshooting. (1) A "Pictures" share for photos By default, the Pictures share includes sample photos which may be removed if desired. (2) A "Music" share for music files. Stations that only support the RealPlayer format. This is rare as many of them have migrated to Windows Media format. 2. Stations that are contractually disallowed by the provider for playback on devices. The most common example of this are the iHeartRadio stations owned by Clear Channel Communications. To add stations not currently available on the MMS, you must determine the station's stream URL. Once the stream URL is determined, navigate to the Content tab of the MMS Configuration page. The section for TuneIn Radio provides a button to add additional stations. Provide a name and station identifier for the station. Select Save to have the new station appear in TuneIn within the Local Radio section under additional stations. Finding the station's Stream URL can be very challenging. The general process includes: (1) Check the radio station's website for a "listen live" type of link or alternatively, you can check other public websites for an index of stream URLs. An example includes http://www.mikesradioworld.com (2) Check the properties of the provided link for the stream URL. Most radio stations use Flash Players or obscure the URL, in which case the method above will not work. Suggested next steps include using a sniffer such as wireshark to try to ascertain the true URL.
