ENGR-2300 Extra Credit Name: Spring 2013 Partner: Note: This assignment, if done correctly, is worth 10 points on a quiz. There is no partial credit. Experiment 4: On page 11 you will find Figure C-4, a practical Miller Integrator circuit. Build this circuit but replace the DC voltage and switch with a 2.5kHz square wave generated by the Mobile Studio with a peak-to-peak amplitude of 200mV. Generate a plot showing approximately 3 full cycles of both the input and output voltages. Adjust the vertical scales on the Mobile Studio oscilloscope to show your input and output voltages as large as possible, without going off the screen. Using the op-amp integrator equation, show that your circuit is working correctly. Hint: You have done essentially this experiment previously when you did Exp 4. Save this plot in a word document and have a TA/Instructor sign here__________________________________. Remember that the signal must be shown live to get the signatures. Change #1: Replace the Mobile Studio input signal with one generated using the BK Precision Function Generator found by the oscilloscope at either side of the classroom. Again, produce the same two plots measured by Mobile Studio. Save the figure and get another signature. ______________________________ Change #2: Replace the Mobile Studio with the Tektronix Oscilloscope and make the same measurements of input and output voltages. Because this is a traditional analog scope, there is no way to save the displayed signal, except to take a picture of it with your phone. If you have a camera, you should do this, but it is not required. It is only necessary to show the TA/Instructor that you have produced the identical signals, as seen by the Mobile Studio, from the plot you have saved. When you have done so, obtain a signature _______________________________ After you have shown your final measurement to the TA/Instructor, increase the input frequency by a factor of 20 and change the scales on the scope to show roughly three cycles of the new, higher frequency input and output voltages. Hint: You will be able to do this assignment most efficiently if you set up your Mobile Studio experiment ahead of time and make sure it is working properly. Also, you can try all parts of the experiment without getting any signatures and then repeat the steps while being observed by the TA/Instructor. You should also read about scopes and function generators and probably look over the manuals for the two instruments and tutorials posted on YouTube. Neither video tutorial is great, but they provide a starting point. http://www.tech.uh.edu/college/labs/mgmt/Docs/Manuals/funcgen.pdf http://w140.com/tek_2205_operators.pdf http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88uLbsbOY-c & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPEa9j5LMbU 1 May 2013 1 K.
