Warnings 1. Please backup all data on hard drive before installing EZ610S. All data will be erased and unrecoverable after initiating installation on hard drive. 2. Please remember the password you set. The hard drive is automatically encrypted and loss of password will result in the stored data being irretrievable. 3. During the process of reading or writing data on the public partition, do not try to type the password to unlock the secure partition in case of damaging the data contained.

Attention 1. Do not disassemble or modify the device without company authorization. 2. EZ610S isn’t water‐proof. Do not place outside on a rainy day, near a swimming pool, beach or any other locations where water may come in contact. 3. Do not drop the device in case of damaging it. 4. Do not place heavy objects on the hard drive enclosure. Doing so may result in accidentally pressing the numeric buttons, switching to initial mode and all data being erased. 5. The password you set will be stored into the hard drive. If the device malfunctions after prolonged usage, simply have it repaired or purchase a new one and type in the same password. The repaired or purchased hard drive will function normally afterwards.

● Hard drive installation 1. Slide the hard drive cover backwards until completely separated from the main case. The bottom cover can be easily removed afterwards.

2. Insert hard drive into hard drive slot and ensure it is firmly connected to the SATA connector within the enclosure. SATA Connector

3. Press the hard drive downwards until firmly snapped in place. The protruding points within the slot should wedge into corresponding screw holes on both ends of the hard drive.

4. Replace the bottom cover by aligning it with the top part first then pressing it back into place. The hard drive installation is complete.

● First time using the EZ610S hard drive enclosure Initializing the hard disk. 1. Connect the Micro B connector of the USB cable to the USB connector of the hard disk enclosure. 2. Press and hold down buttons 1 and 3 (Do not release).

3. While still holding down buttons 1 and 3, connect the other end of the USB cable to computer USB host. The green and red indicators should light up. 4. After 5 seconds, the orange LED indicator will start to blink and button 1 and 3 can now be released. Hard drive initialization is complete.

Setting the unlocking password 1.After completing the initialization and with the USB cable still connected, press button C (Cancel) for 5 consecutive seconds then release after orange indicator turns on.

2. Type in the password you wish to set and press button E (Enter). The orange LED indicator will turn off subsequently. 3. Retype the password then press button E (Enter) again. 4. If the two passwords match, the red indicator will turn off and blue turn on while the green will blink 3 times then stay on which means password is successfully set. The system will soon detect the secure partition and notify that reading and writing options are now permitted. If the two passwords don’t match, the orange indicator will light up and the red will blink twice then stay on. The process will revert to step 2 and request for the password to be keyed in again. 13

Unlock a secure partition 1. Connect the Micro B connector of the USB cable to the USB connector of the hard disk enclosure. 2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the computer USB host. The green and red LED indicators should subsequently turn on. 3. Type in the unlocking password and then press button E (Enter). 4. If the password you typed is correct, the red indicator will turn off and blue turn on while the green will blink 3 times then stay on. This means that hard drive has been successfully unlocked. The system will now detect the secure partition and notify that reading and writing options are now permitted. If the password is incorrect, the
red indicator will blink 3 times then stay on again.

Changing the unlocking password 1. Connect the Micro B connector of the USB cable to the USB connector of the hard disk enclosure. 2. Press and hold down button C (Cancel) without releasing. 3. While still holding down button C, connect the other end of the USB cable to the computer USB host. The green and red LED indicators should subsequently turn on. 4. The orange LED indicator will blink after 5 seconds and button C (Cancel) can now be released. 5. Type in the original unlocking password then press button E (Enter). If the password is correct, the orange indicator will turn off. If the password is incorrect, the orange indicator will remain on and the password needs to be typed again. 6. Key in your new password then press button E (Enter). The orange LED indicator should turn off. 7. Key in the new password again then press button E (Enter). 8. If the two passwords match, the red indicator will turn off and blue turn on while the green will blink 3 times then stay on. Password changing is now complete and the system will detect the secure partition and notify that reading and writing options are now permitted. If the two passwords don’t match, the orange LED indicator will turn on while the red will blink twice then remain on. The process will revert to step 6 and request for password key‐in again. 15

Locking the hard drive The hard drive will lock itself automatically under these conditions: 1. EZ610S is disconnected from the computer. 2. The hard drive has been idle for over 15 minutes and is in sleep mode. 16

Formatting the secure partition Please format the secure partition according to the steps below (The device will automatically divide the hard disk into 1 public and 1 secure partition, each accounting for 50% of the total hard drive capacity). 1. Right click on “My computer” then select “Management” followed by “Disk management”. Disk 1 is the default public partition and Disk 2 is the default secure partition. Click on “Disk management” and a wizard will pop up for Disk 2 initialization. Press “OK”.

2. Right click on Disk 2 then select “New Simple Volume”.

3. Press “Next” as in the following screen.

4. Do not change the default size of partition. Press “Next” to continue.

5. Keeping the default drive letter is recommended. Press “Next” again.

6. Select “Perform a quick format” then press the “Next” button.

7. Changing the volume label to “EZ610 Secure” is recommended. Press “Next” to proceed.

8. Press the “Finish” button.

9. The system will format the partition now.

10. After the partition has been successfully formatted, the system will detect “EZ610 Secure” and pop up an AutoPlay window.

11. If the disk icon for “EZ610 Secure” appears in “My computer” then the disk has been successfully set up.
Please note that Disk 1 is a default public partition. If you wish to format it, refer to the steps mentioned earlier for the secure partition. 27
