DESCRIPTION The TOA F-121C/F-121CM/AC-120 Dispersion-AngleControl Ceiling Speaker ("DISC") System is designed to solve the problem of severe sound quality drop-off that affects conventional ceiling-mount speakers outside the area directly beneath each speaker unit. The TOA "DISC" System is made up of an F-121C/F-121CM WideDispersion Ceiling (also wall-mountable) Speaker, equipped with a panel diffuser that provides wide sound dispersion, and of an AC-120 Equalizing Speaker Controller that makes adjustments for diffuser-induced variations in frequency response. The two units must be used together. The "DISC" System provides more even sound levels and higher sound quality for ceiling-mount speaker installations in public spaces or shopping malls, while requiring fewer units to supply properly intelligible coverage.

The F-121CM high-impedance speaker system is equipped with 5 separate (1W, 3W, 5W, 10W and 20W) taps for 100 line voltages, and 4 separate (1 W, 3W, 5W and 10W) taps for 70 line voltages. Built-in F-121C overload protection circuitry automatically activates to prevent damage from excessive input levels. Flame-resistant grade ABS resin employed for the enclosure and frame. "Spiral stopper" construction enables attractive and easy flush-with-ceiling installation. Simple, pleasing design and punching net diffuser cover.
AC-120 Equalizing Speaker Controller 1. Built-in equalizer for the F-121C/F-121CM provides even sound quality balance and wide-area intelligibility. 2. Low Cut switch removes low frequencies during announcements. 3. A built-in low-pass filter makes it easy to set up a system which includes both the F-121C/F-121CM and a subwoofer speaker.

"DISC" SYSTEM In open service areas, sound doesn't seem to carry well between speakers. There is a great discrepancy between the sound beneath a ceiling speaker and a short distance away. The sound quality deteriorates and causes a falling off in intelligibility. The "DISC" system speaker, however, can greatly extend the effective service area coverage. The speaker panel diffuser and the optimal equalizing provided by the matching equalizing controller make an extremely wide quality sound coverage between speaker units possible.
Sibilants ("s" sounds) and plosives ("p" sounds) are frequent in all human speech. Compared to "DISC" system speakers, conventional units distort or lose these high-frequency sounds.
