Front Panel 1. MIC 1~4 Level Control. To adjust MIC 1~4 microphone level. 3 2. HI/LO Frequency Control for MIC 1~4 Adjust high and low frequency response of MIC 1~4. Set at center click, provides flat frequency response. 3. MIC 5 /LINE 1~MIC 6/LINE 2 Level Control To adjust MIC 5 ~ 6 microphone or LINE 1 ~ 2 level. 4. HI/LO Frequency Control for MIC 5 ~ 6 or LINE 1 ~ 2 Adjust high and low frequency response of MIC 5 ~ 6 or LINE 1 ~ 2. Set at center click, provides flat frequency response. 5. AUX 1 ~ 3 Level Control. To adjust AUX 1 ~ 3 signal level. 6. Bass/Treble Control for AUX 1 ~ 3. To adjust Bass and Treble frequency response for AUX 1 ~ 3. Center click point provides flat response. 7. AUX 1 ~ 3 Select Switch and Indicators Touch switch to select AUX inputs. The indicator LED will light up when the AUX input is selected. AUX input can be selected sequentially. 8. ZONE 1 ~ 2 Select Switch and Indicators Tact switches to select output zone independently. The indicator LED will light up when the zone is selected. 9. MASTER Volume Control. Adjust overall output signal level of the unit. 10. Power LED When it is power “ ON”, the power LED will light up in blue color. When it is power “ OFF” the power LED will light off. 11. LED VU Meter. Indicates output signal level. Rear Panel 4 12. Power Switch Press rocker switch to switch on the unit. Press again to switch off the unit. 13. AC Line Voltage Selector Set the slide switch to select AC line voltage (115V-230V AC). Note: Never set the switch to wrong AC Line voltage, it will cause damage to the unit. 14. AC Inlet To plug in AC power cord. 15. AC Line Fuse Bracket Insert Fuse to the Fuse bracket to provide protection for over current. Note: Always use Fuse with correct current and voltage rating. 16. Chassis Ground A chassis Ground should be connected during installation 17. DC 24V Input Terminal Input terminal to connect DC 24V power source. Note: Never connect to the wrong polarity of DC power source. 18. Direct Output Terminals Direct Speaker output terminal output voltage are 0 – 8Ω- 70V-100V. This is unable to be switched when other ZONE outputs are selected. 19. ZONE 1 ~ 2 Output Terminal Each zone can be selected independently. Each zone has 0-100V terminals 20. AUX 2, AUX 3 AUX 2 is RCA terminals to connect to external equipment’s output signal. The signal level is 500mV, 10 KΩ unbalanced. AUX 3 is RCA terminals to connect to external equipment’s output signal. The signal level is 300mV, 10 KΩ unbalanced. 21. AUX 1 AUX 1 is XLR terminal to connect to external equipment’s unbalanced output signal. The signal level is 500mA, 10KΩ, unbalanced. 22. MIC 6/ Phantom / LINE 2 Switch By setting switch at LINE 2 or MIC 6, the input level can be switched. Set at phantom position, there will be phantom power on to the MIC input. MIC 6: 1.5mV, 600Ω, balanced LINE 2: 200mV, 600Ω, balanced 5 23. MIC 6/ LINE 2 With LINE 2 / MIC 6 switch, MIC 6 / LINE 2 XLR input socket can be connected to MIC 6 or LINE 2 balanced signal. 24. MIC5/ Phantom/ LINE 1 Switch By setting switch at LINE 1 or MIC 5, the input level can be switched. Set at phantom position, there will be phantom power on to the MIC input. MIC 5 : 1.5mV, 600Ω, balanced LINE 1: 200mV, 600Ω, balanced. 25. MIC 5/ LINE 1 With LINE 1/ MIC 5 switch, MIC 5/ LINE 1 XLR input terminal can be connected to MIC 5 or LINE 1 balanced signal. 26. XLR Microphone Input MIC 4 MIC 4 is a balanced microphone input. Input signal level is 1.5mV, 600Ω, balanced. 27. Phantom Power ON/ OFF Switch of MIC3~4 Phantom power ON/ OFF switch for MIC 3~4 28. XLR Microphone Input MIC 3 MIC 3 is a balanced microphone input Input signal level is 1.5mV, 600Ω, balanced 29. XLR Microphone Input MIC 2 MIC 2 is a balanced microphone input Input signal level is 1.5mV, 600Ω, balanced 30. Phantom Power ON/OFF Switch of MIC 1~2 Phantom power ON/OFF switch of MIC 1~2. 31. PTT Switch Set the PTT dip switch at “ ON”: Mic.1 will be self muted and PPS-A can give speech to all zones with chime signal. Set the PTT dip switch at “OFF”: PPS-A will be same function as Mic.1 but without chime signal. 32. Microphone Input MIC1 MIC 1 is a balanced microphone input Input signal level is 1.5mV, 600Ω, balanced 33. MIC 1 Input with RJ45 Connecter This is MIC 1 input by RJ45 connecter. Except TEL / EMG signal, press PTT key of PPS-A, The trigger terminal will activate chime signal first and let MIC 1 has the priority to mute other signal. When the PPS-A is connected, please set the PTT dip switch at “ON”, the MIC 1 XLR input will self mute to avoid introducing noise from XLR input. 6 34. TEL Level Adjust Adjust Telephone signal input level. 35. 100V-0 input 100V input of TEL/Emer signal. 36. TEL/ Emer Input Terminal for balanced Telephone or Emergency signals. Signal level: 1V. 37. 8Ω MOH Output. Unbalanced 8Ω MOH output terminal for monitoring BGM output signal. 38. BALANCED MOH Output Balanced MOH signal output terminal ( 600Ω, balance signal. ) The signal can be connected to monitor amplifier. 39. MOH Level Adjust output level of MOH signal. 40. Paging Station Terminal RJ45 socket can be connected to PPS-02 Paging Stations. 41. Wall Control Panel Terminal RJ45 terminal can be connected to PWP-02 Wall Control Panel. The Wall Control Panel can control ZONE output and select AUX 1~3 input. 42. XLR out for Ext. Amplifier 0 dB, 600Ω, balanced XLR output terminal. It is the output of whole preamplifier stage with balanced signal. This signal can be connected to Ext. Amplifier. 43. REC out Recording output RCA terminal. It is the output signal before MASTER volume control. This signal can be connected to cassette recorder etc, to record signal of preamplifier stage. 44. PRE out 0 dB, 600Ω,unbalanced RCA output terminal 45. It is the output of whole preamplifier stage POWER in 0 dB, unbalanced RCA terminal. It can be connected to the “PRE OUT” RCA Terminal It is the signal input terminal of power amplifier stage. 46. VOX Level VR To adjust AUX 1 ~ 3 attenuating level during priority muting function is activated. 7 47. Chime VR. Adjust Chime output level 48. Chime Mode Setting Digits 4 different chime modes setting by two DIP switches. 49. Chime D1 D0 OFF 0 0 1 0 1 2 1 0 3 1 1 Power Remote ON/ OFF Control Terminal Remote control the unit to power ON when the unit is under power switch OFF state. Short Remote Power ON/ OFF terminal, the unit will be switched to power “ON”. If the power switch is at “ON” state, this Remote Power ON terminal can not control the unit. When the unit is operated by DC source, it can not be controlled by Remote Power terminal 3. Installation 3.1. Unpack package 1. Unpack the box, take out the unit. 2. Check the accessories according to the manual. 3.2. (Optional) Install unit in rack The PA-8120/8240 is designed for table top use. If user wants to use in the rack, please screw on the mounting bracket. Please refer to the drawing. 3.3. Set correct AC line in voltage Set the AC line voltage to correct voltage 3.4. Plug in AC cord Plug in the AC cord. The unit is standby for operation. 8 4. Connections and settings 4.1. TEL.Emer input/ 100V The TEL. Emer/100V input has the built in VOX function. It has the highest priority than any other signal input. This input will override all other input when there is TEL.Emer/100V input. 4.2. Connection of TEL/Emer/100 V input 4.2.1. Long distance Emer. Announcement With 100V input, the amplifier can construct a star installation for long distance and wide area announcement. 5. Microphone Installation 5.1. Microphone 1 Microphone 1 has 3 different operation modes. 5.1.1. XLR input only a. Set the PTT at “OFF” b. Insert the XLR input The Mic.1 will not have the priority to other microphone input. 9 5.1.2. XLR input and PTT setting a. Set the PTT at “ON” b. Insert the XLR input The Mic.1 will override and mute all the other input except TEL/Emer/100V input. 5.1.3. All call paging station a. b. Insert PPS-A to the RJ45 (33) Press to give announcement (There will be chime first when PTT key is pressed) The mic.1 with PPS-A will override and mute all the other inputs except TEL/EMER/100V input. 5.1.4. Phantom power Set the Phantom DIP switch at ON, it will supply phantom power for microphone. 5.2. Mic.2, 3, 4 a. Connect microphone to the XLR input of Mic.2, 3, 4 b. Select phantom power DIP switch Set the DIP switch at “ON” There will be phantom power for microphone. 5.3. Mic.5/Line 1, Mic.6/Line 2 a. Connect microphone to the XLR input of Mic.5, Mic.6 b. Set the slide switch to phantom, there will be phantom power for microphone. c. Set the slide switch to Line 1, Line 2, it will change the input sensitivity level. It is available for music source signal. 5.4. Priority of Microphone Mic.1>Mic.2>Mic.3, 4, 5, 6>AUX 1, 2, 3 10 6. Music Source Input There are two kinds of input terminal for music source. Both are unbalanced type signal input. AUX1, 2, 3 can be connected to different music source, such as CD, Tape, Tuner…. Etc. Equalizer 7. Paging station PPS-02 paging station can be connected to the paging station RJ45 input (40) The paging station can be extended to 6 stages. The priority setting between paging stations, please refer to the PPS-02 manual. The paging station can control the output zones to give announcement. 8. Wall control panel Wall control panel can be connected to the wall control panel RJ45 (41) terminal The wall control panel can control output zones and music source input AUX1, 2. 3. 11 9. MOH output There are two MOH output One is 8Ω/1W, can be connected to small monitor speaker. The other is 600Ωbalanced output signal, can be connected to external monitor amplifier With MOH VR, it can control the output signal level of MOH 10. Signal output of preamplifier stage The (42) Ext amplifier can to connected to external amplifier. The REC out can be connected to tape recorder. “Pre out” can be linked with “ Power in” by a short bar. The VOX level trimmer can adjust muting level of AUX 1~3 when the Tel.Emer./100V and microphone priority is activated. 11. Chime There are 4 chime states, it can be set by D0,D1 dip switch (48) Chime D1 D0 OFF 0 0 1 0 1 2 1 0 3 1 1 The chime will be activated when PPS-A of Mic.1 is operated. 12 12. Power Remote The unit can be power on by short the power remote terminals. Only under power switch off state, the unit can be trigger by power remote function. Remote contact switch 13. DC battery The DC battery 24V can be connected to 24V dc +/- terminal. The batteries will back up the operation of the unit when the AC power source is off. 14. Speaker connection Z1 and Z2 can be connected to the speaker network. Z1, Z2 and fix output 0-100V share the total output power of the unit. Z1, Z2 can be selected independently by zone switch of front panel (8).
