Equipment list The purpose of this equipment list is to identify uniform terminology to be used by ADHC staff when describing pieces of equipment which is used by customers.
BATHROOM EQUIPMENT SHOWER STOOL Options: With or without arms height adjustable may have back rest
SHOWER CHAIR Options: height adjustable with or without arms
BATH BOARD Options: can be wooden or plastic may or may not have rail attached may have a back rest
HAND HELD SHOWER (HHS) Options: can be fixed permanently to replace shower head or removable and slide over water spout Removable HHS can be attached to one or two taps
TOILET EQUIPMENT TOILET SURROUND: Options: can be permanently fixed to the floor
OVER TOILET AID height adjustable
RASIED TOILET SEAT: should have clips to attach to the toilet bowel, those filled with water generally are not stable
BEDSIDE COMMODE CHAIR: height adjustable has a pan underneath
SHOWER COMMODES ATTENDANT PROPELLED SHOWER COMMODE: Options: Closed padded seat Swing back or fixed arm rests attendant propelled (small wheels) Sliding or swing away footrests Front castor brakes Can have pan and pan carrier underneath
SELF PROPELLED SHOWER COMMODE CHAIR: Options: open padded seat swing back or fixed arm rests Swing away leg rests Self propelled (large wheels) Can have pan and pan carrier underneath
MOBILE GOANNA CHAIR Options: moulded seat has pan and pan carrier generally used for children may have a lap belt can be height adjustable
BEDROOM EQUIPMENT BED STICK: slides under the bed mattress
REMOVABLE BED RAIL: slides under the bed mattress
DROP DOWN BED RAIL: slides under the bed mattress has a catch to allow the rail to drop down
OVERHEAD POLE: placed at the head of the bed
MOBILITY EQUIPMENT ROLLATOR FRAMES: can have two or four wheels can fold may have a seat
PICK UP FRAME: do not have wheels can fold
FOREARM SUPPORT FRAME:
WHEELCHAIRS SELF PROPELLED MANUAL WHEELCHAIR: large wheels at the rear can have modified seating and footplates
ATTENDANT PROPELLED MANUAL WHEELCHAIR: small wheels at the rear can have modified seating and footplates
ELECTRIC WHEELCHAIR: electric hand control generally have small wheels can be pushed manually from behind if disengage the wheels. Although maybe heavy to push.
TRANSFER EQUIPMENT SLIDING BOARDS: can be wooden or plastic may have a flexible gutter to sit over the wheelchair tyre
TRANSFER BELT: may have plastic buckle or Velcro fastening
SLIDE SHEET: soft coloured slippery material, can be various colours
HOISTS ELECTRIC HOIST: has battery and battery charger as well There are also hydraulic hoists which are manually controlled by the hoist operator.
HOIST ATTACHMENTS
STANDARD YOKE only slings with material loops can be used
PIVOT FRAME only slings with plastic clips can be used.
SLINGS TO BE USED WITH HOISTS

GENERAL PURPOSE SLING WITH HEAD SUPPORT: Positioned from the top of the head to the bottom edge of buttocks

GENERAL PURPOSE SLING WITHOUT HEAD SUPPORT: Positioned from shoulder blades to bottom edge of buttocks
TOILETTING SLING: Positioned from shoulder blades to top of buttocks
All slings should be good repair therefore not frayed torn when being used. Most slings now have positioning loops on the back /side to assist with positioning the customer when lower from the hoist.
