Fall Release ’12 Notes April 15, 2013 www.intronis.com | (800) 569-0155 | @intronisinc Introduction This release note document contains information regarding Intronis cloud backup + recovery Fall Release ’12 Patch level 5.0.2. This document provides important product information that may not be covered in the product manuals including new features, upgrades and problems fixed. New in this Version This release includes enhancements to the Backup Agent and the Management Portal. The Backup Agent will automatically be updated on all your customer machines during the two weeks following release, and requires no action on your part. The major features of Fall Release ’12 include: • • • • • • • VMware Backup: Backup and restore entire VMs to the cloud or to a local device from a single agent, all managed through the web portal. Improved File Scanning: Drastically improved the time to scan for new files, especially in backup sets with large numbers of files and folders. Backup Status Dashboard: A new dashboard on the portal homepage displays backup status in real-time. This new interface includes improved sorting, agent connection status, and the ability to run backups directly from the dashboard. Continuous Scan Scheduling: File and Folder backups can now either run on a set schedule or can be set to scan for new files every (x) minutes, at any interval a partner chooses. This replaces our Continuous Data Protection backup sets. Wildcard Inclusions: Partners can now define which wildcards or file extensions they’d like to back up specifically. This replaces our By-Program-Type backup sets. Restore Improvements: Partners can now restore to a recovery-mode installation (or from a restore drive) from the portal. General UI Improvements: We’ve made navigation easier (especially on a touchscreen!) and streamlined adding and editing accounts, partners, and computers. Each action now correctly lists the billing usage for that specific action, not the total billing usage. An Autotask integration issue in which multiple "No Recent Backups" tickets were generated with the wrong account referenced. All “No Recent Backup” tickets now include the correct username in the subject and body. Eliminated "Error Fetching http headers" errors in the ConnectWise integration logs. This error is now resolved and ConnectWise integration will sync without issue. An issue in which files generating a "RDC_SIGNATURE_FAILED" error on backup fail to restore. These files will restore successfully with the updated agent. An issue in which Exchange 2003 storage group backups failed to restore using the recovery storage group option. These restores will now succeed as expected. A ConnectWise integration issue in which partners were unable to map tickets due to a “Please choose a valid service board” message. This issues has been resolved and tickets statuses can be successfully mapped in the portal. An issue in which the backup of folders with no ACL permission granted for the Local System account do not back up data and will not log an error. These folders will now back up successfully or log the expected notice if they cannot be backed up due to permissions settings. Eliminated problem in which deleted computers were still displayed in the Backup Status Dashboard on the portal home page. These computers are no longer displayed. Added a warning for backups in which generating an RDC signature file (to calculate changed blocks in a file) fails. This warning is now logged if signature generation fails. Fixed Exchange message level backup running as "local system" account that did not report as “Completed” in the portal. These backups will now update their status in the portal correctly. Fixed multiple issues with restoring from a secondary catalog (restore drive) for VMware, SQL, and Exchange backups. An issue that resulted in "Padding is invalid and cannot be removed" errors during restore. These restores will now complete successfully. An issue with storing file size during backup which causes some file restore failures. File size issues are resolved and restores will finish successfully. A number of errors where in rare cases, taking a VSS snapshot of selected volumes prior to backup failed. These errors have been resolved and VSS snapshots should create successfully and not hinder backup. www.intronis.com | (800) 569-0155 | @intronisinc 4 Fixed in previous Release • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • SQL databases in a state of “Restoring, Autoclosed” cannot be successfully excluded from a backup. Databases in a state other than “Normal” can now be successfully excluded from a SQL backup set and will not generate errors in the logs. The “master” database could not be restored while the SQL server was running, generating the following error: "Restore error for database: master. The 'master' database cannot be restored while the SQL server is running." This error is no longer generated and the restore to .bak file is successful. Fixed a portal issue in which user could sometimes be logged out of the portal after viewing the Restore tab in the Computer Information page. Updated the usage calculation for VMware backups. The base upload size for a VM will now accurately match the size of the VM as reported in VMware, which will make billing usage more predictable. Missed Backups were not successfully displaying in the Backup Status Dashboard on the home page of the portal. Missed backups are now included in the dashboard. Files and folders remained locked after a backup completed in rare circumstances. This issue should no longer occur for any backups. Updated our ConnectWise integration to successfully update billing usage values in Agreement Additions when using the ConnectWise 2012.2 client. Refresh frequency on Computer Details and BSD pages should be the same Subaccount activity Portal API called too frequently Disregard VM clusters when authenticating with a vCenter Multiple instances of the same mailbox backup will run concurrently if a backup runs for over two days Delete exchange storage remote and local files with LV disabled should delete remote files on fileserver Cancelled accounts appear in Backup Status Dashboard Unable to backup VM - DiskLibException: One or more required subsystems failed to initialize Missed notification type in Notification factory Local Backup Coupon is not displayed in invoice The "Install Microsoft Silverlight" link/logo from the remote monitor is no longer clickable Partner Portal Displaying Contact Name instead of Company name for master partners VM Restore issue – ‘ClusterComputeResource’ www.intronis.com | (800) 569-0155 | @intronisinc 5 • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Interrupted Exchange Backup no longer produces old notification on restart Using the Archive Bit functionality will now successfully trigger a backup if the Last Modified Date has not changed. Usage graphs now display correctly even when usage is reported multiple times a day. Partners can now change an account’s plan through the REST API. Fixed issue with storing the start time for a backup that resulted in false “Backup Missed” statuses in reports. Fixed reporting issue on Exchange Mailbox backups where the total computer usage was being displayed instead of the actual amount uploaded. Fixed issue in REST API where “day” values were not accepted when configuring No Recent Backup notifications. Partners can now change or reset an account’s password through the REST API. Fixed issue with Exchange Info Store backups failing with “Intelliblox signature generation failed” error. Promoted the “Database is in an invalid state for backups” warning to an error to indicate in reports that this database did not back up successfully. Fixed the generation of warnings on hidden mailboxes when “Attempt to backup hidden mailboxes” is disabled in Exchange Mialbox backups. Partners can now successfully change the temp folder during initial software setup without an error. Fixed issue in logs where the number of errors reported in the logs did not match the actual number of errors present Linking an account to a company with different capitalization in the ConnectWise integration no longer throws “account not linked” errors. Fixed issue where failing to generate a signature file to track changes prevented files from backing up Fixed issue where Exchange Information Store backups were not forcing a full if the previous full backup was missed. Fixed issue with notifications erroneously reporting “No Files Changed” Fixed issue with backup status report identifying backups with warnings only as “errors present” Fixed issue where Exchange Information Store backups were being reported as failed if they ran over 24 hours. Backup status report now displays “1 error” instead of “1 errors” Fixed issue where some Windows 2008 VMs were not successfully backing up. Renamed subfolders in a backup set are now backed up successfully without requiring a backup set edit. www.intronis.com | (800) 569-0155 | @intronisinc 6 • • • • • Fixed inconsistency in Exchange Mailbox-level item count between portal and local monitor. Exchange mailbox-level wizard displays item count and folder size different from Exchange Backup Set Incorrect backup sets sometimes shown in Portal Backup hanging in RDCAdapter Cleanup of large catalog is slow Known Problems Contacting Technical Support Our free phone support is available 9AM - 6PM EST, Monday - Friday. 1-800-569-0155 www.intronis.com | (800) 569-0155 | @intronisinc 7
