FAQ – Electric Cook Number Grill
How do I operate my LG20i/e-‐2? First remove any plastic material from inside the grill, remove the searing plate and stainless steel grill from the packaging. Wash both with a warm soapy water and position in grill. Plug the cord into a 110v outlet. The electrical draw on this is 1440 watts so you may not be able to operate any other electric appliance on this same circuit at the same time. Flip the switch on the front control panel to ON. Turn the round knob on the right all the way to the right and the SEAR plate will get to about 500F in 7-‐12 minutes. To turn the power to the grill side, turn the knob on the right all the way to the left (counterclockwise) to the grill position. On the first use, let each side cook for 15 minutes to cook off any residue. What is the warranty? The warranty on the LG20i/e-‐2 is 1 year on all electronic components. It is limited lifetime on all stainless components. Is this safe to be set on a countertop? Yes, it can be set on a hard countertop. It has elevated feet on it so it does not sit directly on the countertop. How does the dual burner system work? When the grill is in the sear mode, the searing surface on the right will heat up to about 500F in 7-‐12 minutes. When the surface temperature hits 500F, the energy is automatically transferred to the left side. When the sear plate drops down to about 450F the energy will automatically transfer back to the sear plate. The purpose of this is to protect the coating on the sear plate and also to warm the grill side and not waste any heating energy. The grill design intentionally allows only one side at a time to operate. When the control knob is turned to grill, it always operates on high. Should the hood be open or closed during cooking? In order to make the most efficient use of the heat available, it is recommended that the hood be closed whenever possible. What is the typical cooking process for a steak? Turn the searing plate on high, close the hood and allow 7-‐12 minutes for the sear plate to heat up. Sear the steak for about two minutes on each side or to your liking. Switch to the grilling mode by turning the control knob on the right counterclockwise. Transfer the steak to the left side of the grill and insert the cooking probe, close the hood and set the cook number® system to the desired level. When the food is ready, the Cook Number lights will flash and the alarm sounds.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Cook Number System work? It is a simple system that is designed to sense the internal temperature of the food that you are cooking. You simply turn the round knob on the left to the setting that you desire (1-‐10 with the appropriate temperatures), insert the probe in the food being careful to keep the end of the probe in the center of the food. As the food heats to the desired level, lights will come on and when the final Cook Number level is met, the alarm goes off indicating the food is done. Do you have to use the Cook Number system? You do not have to always use the Cook Number system, the grill can be operated without it. Does the electric cook as fast and good as a gas grill? Due to the efficient design it will cook about as fast as a gas grill. It is important to keep the hood closed while cooking to ensure the hottest temperatures. How much does it cost to operate? The high efficiency design allows it to operate for 10-‐15 cents per hour. A typical gas grill of 60,000 BTUs will cost 10-‐20 times this to operate. What do I need to do to clean the grill? It is recommended that the grill be cleaned after each use. To clean the sear plate on the right simply wipe it with paper towels or remove it and wash it with warm water and soap—or put in dishwasher. To clean the left stainless steel grilling plate, simply scrape it with a steel brush and/or remove it and place it in the dishwasher. To clean the vaporizer plate (black porcelain on the left side below the stainless steel grill), slide out the grease tray from the side. The vaporizer plate will come out with it. Scrape the plate clean with a flat metal object or a steel brush. The residue will go into either a disposable tray or aluminum foil, which can be thrown away and replaced as necessary. This should be done frequently.
