Capacity D8 format can stock up to 7GB (compressed). High durability High Density Alloy (HDA) magnetic particles are protected by a dense, uniform oxyde layer that provides a high level of data integrity for a stable, longterm use. Extreme durability with a polypropylene cartridge case with round-edge design to absorb external shocks. D8 tapes can last up to 30 years*. High reliability and performance Featuring an airtight shell construction to prevent the penetration of dust and other foreign particles in the cartridge and the use of an electrostatic-proof material to suppress dust build up, and enhance high reliability and performance.

Outstanding Features in 8mm Data Cartridge
HDA Particle
Employing such features as Super Stable Metal Tape to realize outstanding archival properties, D8 incorporates a number of special developments for 8mm Data Cartridges, from improved magnetic tape to the hard cartridge case. Likewise, the QGD160M model attains superb archival performance thanks to increased reliability right down to its smallest components, including the magnetic particles and binder.

Tough Polypropylene Cartridge Case The cartridge case is made of highly durable polypropylene, which reduces cracking and chipping; likewise, its Rounded Edge Construction represents a highly reliable design for softening external shocks from accidental falls. The D8 also employs heat-resistant resin in its shell, and the new lid material maintains high reliability.
High Density Alloy (HDA) magnetic particles allow for stronger metal particles protected by a dense, uniform oxide layer, resulting in high data integrity and stable longterm use, as does the strong cross-linkage construction and High Cross-Linkage (HCL) Binder System with a newly-developed additive. The HR135 backcoating maintains outstanding tape transport even in this 8mm Data Storage System with a complex tape transport mechanism and playback modes.

Cleaning Tape It is recommended that the appropriate cleaning cartridge be used once a month or every 30 hours of drive operation. For D8 drive use QGD-8CL cleaning cartridge or equivalent.
