fi]®David Clark COMPANY INCORPORA TEO 360 Franklin Street, Box 15054, Worcester, MA 01615-0054 TEL.: (508) 751-5800 E-Mail: sales@DavidCIar1<.com FAX: (508) 753-5827 OPERATOR'S INSTRUCTIONS AMPLIFIER PIN 18924G-02 FOR USE WITH H200/U AND H202/U VOICE POWERED HEADSET/CHESTSET INTRODUCTION This Amplifier was developed by the David Clark Company Incorporated (DCCI) to dramatically improve voice transmission in sound power systems operating under high noise conditions. The unit is a retrofit amplifier module which can be easily installed in the H200/U or H202/U Voice Powered Headset/Chestset. PII AMPLIFIER The Amplifier unit fe3tu~es the following: SWITCH • Increases the voice level by 30dB • Operational life from self-contained replaceable 9V Lithium battery is approximately 50 days. Battery shelf life - 5 years. • Oversize Positive-Action Push-to-Talk/Amplify Switch • Water Resistant • Retrofit requires no soldering • Operating temperature -30°C to +50°C OPERATION When switched ON and the PTT depressed, the amplifier will provide approximately 30dB of microphone gain. When the switch is OFF, the system is returned to "straight-tt-Iru" operation. With the amplifier switch ON battery power is only used when the PTI button is activated. AMPLIFIER INSTALLATION 1. Remove the three screws which secure the microphone element to the housing, along with the two contact clips and discard them. 2. Attach the three amplifier wires to the housing - the white and black wires to their respective mating terminals, and the remaining red wire to the side of the PTT switch to which one of the discarded contact clips was previously connected. 3. Reassemble the microphone element and amplifier to the housing with the three long screws provided; coil any extra length of wire in the housing or press back into the amplifier. GAIN ADJUSTMENT Amplifier microphone gain can be set by rAmoving the black nylon screw on the outside lower perimeter and turning the screwdriver adjustment. Clockwise rotation will increase gain, counterclockwise rotation will reduce gain. This has been factory set, which will satisfy most users. .. BATTERY CHANGE Remove the three screws holding the microphone, amplifier and housing together and two screws holding the amplifier cover. (It is not necessary to remove the wires connecting the amplifier to the housing.) Remove expended 9 volt battery and replace with an alkaline battery for best operation. Tuck wires from battery under amplifier printed circuit board and reassemble. SPECIFICATIONS Size - 3" diam. x 1-3/8 thick approximately. Weight - 8 oz. Temp. Range: -30°C to 50°C. External Power Requirements - none. Internal Battery - Recommend 9V Lithium (Kodak U9VL) for maximum performance. 9V Alkaline batteries may be used. 19507P-46 (01-99) ©1999 David Clark Company Incorporated
