English Rugged Pocket-sized HDD for Professional Use Field Tough Media is designed to improve on-site editing performance 2008.9 Broadcast industry The iVDR is designed to be audio-video devices to PCs, recorders and in-car equipm various types of data such a Boasting high impact resis industry streamlining editing High impact resistance Compact, lightweight removable HDD that can withstand drop impacts of up to 1.22 m* High transfer rate (up to 830 Mbps) capable of high-definition recording and editing Conforming to iVDR standards, Maxell’s iVDR Xtreme employs a 2.5-inch high-capacity HDD. Compared with a 3.5-inch HDD, it is compact, lightweight and energyefficient. It can withstand drop impacts of up to 1.22 m, equivalent to performance tests by MIL-STD**. The iVDR Xtreme is 18 mm thick, 5.3 mm thicker than the standard iVDR cartridge, and 126 mm long, 16 mm longer than the standard. These dimensions result in optimized volume and location of internal dampers to boost impact resistance. The internal HDD is connected to the iVDR connector with a flexible printed circuit (FPC). Furthermore, it is floated within a case with the help of dampers, making it difficult for any impact to affect the HDD directly. In addition, the rounded case design, which fits comfortably in the hand, helps offset drop impact. The iVDR Xtreme can record and save mission-critical video data at any location, which is why it is known as “Field Tough Media.” Employing a 5,400 rpm 2.5-inch HDD, the iVDR Xtreme has a serial ATA interface suited for recording audio and video data, enabling high transfer rate and optimal performance for recording and editing with high-definition quality. iVDR Xtreme drop test 1.22m 1.0m 0.66m 500 0.33m Magnitude of impact on internal HDD 0 Compatible with the standard iVDR Guide rail positions on the side of the iVDR Xtreme and the location of the connector are the same as those on the standard iVDR, meaning standard iVDR cartridges can be inserted into the iVDR Xtreme slot. The iVDR Xtreme connector is highly durable and can withstand up to 10,000 cartridge insertions and removals. Compatible with both USB and FireWire800 The iVDR Xtreme adaptor has an interface compatible with both USB and FireWire (IEEE1394) 800 Mbps (9-pin). USB and FireWire** are bus-power compatible. The adaptor enables easy connection to USB and FireWire hostcompatible cameras, editing devices and PCs. A locking mechanism locks the iVDR Xtreme into the adaptor when it is being carried. **When connected with pin-cable 1000 1500 2000 2500 Level of impact causing HDD to malfunction Adaptor + iVDR Xtreme 3000 Note: Loss of data is prevented at 2500G or under. *Maxell test data: Maxell cannot guarantee that damage to the HDD will not occur when it is dropped from heights of up to 1.22 m. **Military Standard: United States Defense Standards Rear of adaptor standard HDD used in a wide variety of consumer products, from , information appliances, home servers, video ment. The iVDR is a new standard media for sharing as video, music and television programs. stance, the iVDR Xtreme is best suited to broadcast g work as a non-linear editing and recording device. Supports non-linear editing Compact and lightweight High data transfer rate of up to 1.5 Gbps A palm-sized portable removable disk The interface conforms to the serial ATA standard, enabling a high data transfer rate of up to 1.5 Gbps. High-capacity recording, high-speed random access As it is an HDD, the iVDR Xtreme boasts high-capacity recording and high-speed random access. Advanced work tool designed to meet the needs of the broadcast industry Best suited for non-linear editing Low cost per bit As an off-line bridge media complementing a network in non-linear editing, the iVDR Xtreme is ideally suited for dispatch, receipt and storage of editing content and data. An HDD is a low-cost-per-bit storage device. Video data recorded onto a camcorder can be transferred file by file to the iVDR Xtreme. Video data edited on the iVDR Xtreme can then be processed as is.
