THINKLOGICAL CASE STUDY
How Thinklogical is Helping Broadcast Production Companies Achieve Seamless Integration Between Their Editing and Broadcast Environments Films at 59 recently acquired a second building to house several large productions, providing 21 additional offline editing suites. Due to the quick turnaround nature of these productions, Films at 59 needed to provide an online and grading system within the same facility to enable the production team the convenience of having their finishing facility quite literally in the room next door. This presented Films at 59 with a problem: how to provide the new editing suites access to the main computer room located at headquarters down the block? The new facility is at the opposite end of the block, but all the infrastructure required to run the finishing suite is in the main headquarters building (video, audio, sync, control routing, and centralized media storage). The solution? Run several point to point single mode fiber cores down the road between the two buildings, and use Thinklogical’s extension products to extend the front end user interface peripherals and SDI monitoring to the remote location. This allowed Films at 59 to keep all the back end computer systems and media storage conveniently local to the machine room and router in the main headquarters building.

THINKLOGICAL CASE STUDY
Films at 59 chose Thinklogical’s Velocitykvm-24 KVM extenders to extend the user “The performance has proven to be interface to the remote location. This solution allows Films at 59 to extend a complete solid. We have experienced no picture workstation of dual DVI, mouse, keyboard, and Wacom tablet from the system’s back end drop out or lag, as we did previously all the way to the remote finishing suite down the block. Thinklogical’s Velocitykvm-24 with other KVM extender systems.” extenders have performed solidly straight out of the box. Using the Thinklogical — Ian Burling equipment, Films at 59 has avoided picture dropping and lag, problems previously Technical Support Services experienced with other KVM extender systems. Offering a wide variety of built-in Films at 59 connections, the Velocitykvm-24 allows Films at 59 to connect USB DVD drives, USB keys, media drives, and other peripherals right in their editing suite. No need for a runner to literally run up the road in the rain to the machine room to put a disc in the system or to connect a data drive!

THINKLOGICAL CASE STUDY
Another issue Films at 59 faced was how to achieve SDI picture and audio monitoring within the new suites. For this, they chose Thinklogical's SDIXtreme 3G to provide an SDI route from the main router at headquarters over the fiber link into the new editing suites down the block, thus allowing Films at 59 to route any SD, HD, or 3G signal to feed the waveform monitoring and Grade 1 picture monitoring. Because Thinklogical’s SDIXtreme 3G also handles embedded audio, with the addition of a de-embedder in the new editing suites, Films at 59 has a comprehensive, fully functional finishing room with picture and sound monitoring over just a couple of fiber cores.
