Description The Samsung Intensity is a cell phone offered by Verizon Wireless. It has a full slide–out QWERTY keyboard and it also includes many options for keeping in touch, including Mobile IM, threaded messaging, picture messaging, Mobile Email, chat, and external keys to place quick calls. The Intensity cell phone will provide potential consumers with a cell phone that isn’t too small or large and can easily be stored in one’s purse or pocket.
User Approach The user should approach testing the Samsung Intensity cell phone by using the test phone provided. The ideal user does not need to own an Integrity cell phone or have previous knowledge of cell phones; however, the ideal tester would be someone who does not own the Intensity cell phone. This test was designed to examine the usability and comfort users feel with their first interaction with the phone. The user should approach this test with an open mind and disregard any previous feelings towards any cell phones or cell phone carriers.
Pre-Test Strategy To successfully test the principles in the user guide, the user would need 10 minutes to carefully read the guide. Ideally the user would read the guide and perform the task.

Personas Martha Thompson retired 3 years ago at age 62, after working for 35 years as a Banking Consultant for Bank of America. At 65 years old, Martha decided to travel and spend time visiting her children and grandchildren. In order to keep in touch with family while traveling Martha purchased a SANYO SCP-3810 carried by Sprint. Martha enjoys the comfort the SANYO provides with its size and larger menu screens but has had multiple billing problems with Sprint.
Raul Sanchez is an 11 year old 6th grader attending Maple Middle School in Newark, NJ. Raul is an outstanding student with high marks in science and math. He recently joined the Science 4 Kidz club after school and in order to keep in touch with his parents they purchased a prepaid Go phone carried by AT&T. Raul complains that his cell phone does not receive good reception and would like for his parents to shop around for a new phone and carrier.
Renee Stewart is a 35 year old Packaging Engineer with Newell Rubbermaid and resides in Huntersville, NC. Renee has been married for 10 years and has no children due to the amount of traveling required by her job. To keep in contact with her employer and husband while traveling Renee has a Black Berry Bold 9700 carried by T-Mobile. Renee enjoys her Black Berry very much but is concerned about combining her work phone with personal calls. Task # 1

The Samsung Intensity cell phone offers many features and today the user will change the wall paper from the default setting to Flame. The wallpaper is the background of the main screen a user sees before sending a text or making a phone call. The task today is designed to give the user an opportunity to handle the Intensity phone and experience how easy it is to use.
Step 1: From the Main Screen, press the Center Select Key to select MENU.

Step 5: Use Center again as directional keys to scroll down and select the wallpaper entitled Flame. Select Ok by pressing the Center key.

Step 6: You will be informed that the wallpaper was selected and directed back to the Display Settings screen. Press the end button to return to main menu. Once at the main menu the wallpaper should be changed from the default setting to Flame. Figure 4 Default Setting
