Fujinon XF 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR The XF 18-135mm F3.5-5.6, the first lens in the X-mount system that one might consider to be an "all-in-one" style lens. The lens provides an effective field of view of around 28-200mm. With weather-sealed and an outstanding image stabilization system ensures that image is sharp even in low light. Standard Zoom lenses, though a bit bulkier than some primes, are much more popular because it actually lightens your load as you will carry fewer lenses in your camera bag. Not having to swap lenses in the heat of the moment means you’re more likely to grab that winning shot. Camera shake is minimal and prevents ruined images, you are able to shoot reasonably sharp images at shutter speeds as low as ¼ of a second. Pro’s • Comes with Optical Image Stabilization • Weather resistant lens
Con’s • Not very versatile in terms of focal length
Best Telephoto Lenses Fujinon XF 50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR Optical design for telephoto zoom image quality. The XF 50-140mm F2.8 offers a focal length equivalent to a 76mm to 214mm. With a maximum aperture of F2.8 this lens is the largest in the Fujinon range. Although quite heavy it produces very sharp images especially stopping down to F4 - F11. At F22 you can find a slight softness around the edges but only if you choose to look for it. This great lens comes with a an electrical autofocus system allowing it to focus from infinity to close-up in less than a second without a sound. The minimum closefocusing distance is round about 1 meter and therefore not ideal for macro photography. Pro’s • Dust, Water and Low Temperature Resistance • Tripple Linear Motor, with Top Image Stabilization Con’s • De-centering at ƒ/2.8 the image softens at 70mm at the top, while at 140mm the bottom is soft at ƒ/2.8.
Fujinon XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS The XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS is a telephoto zoom lens designed for the Xmount system. This lens will only mount to the Fujifilm compact system cameras with an effective focal length of 83-300mm. Impressively, the lens provides tacksharp results when used at the widest-angle and widest-aperture settings. At 135mm a slight softness will start to form around the edges.. Almost no distortion is found whether you’re shooting at 55mm or even 200mm. This lens uses an electrical autofocus that produces a very fast result. This lens doesn’t perform too good in the macro section as it only produces 0.18x magnification at 1.1 meters. Pro’s • Large Maximum Aperture with Optical Design • Image Stabilization that allows Shutter Speeds 4.5 Stops Lower Con’s -
• Not a constant lens, in that as you increase the focal length, the maximum aperture size decreases
Best Wide-Angle Lenses Fujinon XF 14mm F2.8 R Wide-Angle with an equal field view of 21mm. The XF 14mm F2.8 R produces very sharp images, used at its widest aperture of F2.8. You can find slightly soft corners but stopping down reduces the effect drastically. As shot on the X-mount cameras, this lens has superior optical performance. Chromatic aberration is excellent with almost no color shift. The lens focuses from infinity to close-up in less than a second and locks on its target immediately. The front element does not rotate, making life a little bit easier for polarizer users. There are two rings for this lens: a focusing ring, and an aperture ring, something of a rarity in modern digital cameras. Pro’s • There are no distortion at all • Sharpness at F2.8 is very good, and excellent at F4 or smaller Con’s • This lens offers only 0.12x magnification, with a minimum close-focusing distance of just over seven inches.

Typical for most Fujinon lenses, the build quality is very good thanks to a tightly assembled metal body based on a metal mount. The focus ring operates smoothly. A specialty is the so-called focus clutch mechanism. You can push/pull the focus ring to engage/disengage the AF rather than switching the focusing mode on the camera.
