New Shock Protection System II With Quantum’s new, second-generation Shock Protection System II (SPS II), the Fireball lct product line takes reliability and data integrity to an even higher level, with enhanced protection against both operating and non-operating shock. Along with providing enhanced protection against shock during handling and integration, SPS II now guards against kicks and jolts while the PC is running to reduce field failures. Like previous Fireball generations, the Fireball lct08 and the Fireball lct10 drives also use the Quantum-pioneered Data Protection System (DPS), which verifies essential functions
in seconds to eliminate costly and unnecessary drive returns. Together, these systems deliver higher reliability and improved data integrity, while reducing drive returns and cutting processing and replacement costs. Outstanding Performance Fireball lct08 and Fireball lct10 drives deliver the performance needed for the most demanding home and small business applications with an 9.5 millisecond (ms) seek time, a 5,400 RPM rotational speed, and internal transfer rates of 257 megabit-per-second (Mb/sec) for Fireball lct08 and 297 Mb/sec for Fireball lct10. To ensure optimum throughput, the Fireball lct family feature the Quantum-developed, highperformance Ultra ATA/66 interface, which virtually doubles the burst data rate, with enhanced data integrity. Furthermore, to meet a wide range of applications, from sub-$700 home PCs to everyday business systems, Fireball lct08 and Fireball lct10 drives are available in the most popular capacity points.
