AUTODESK FIVE MYTHS ABOUT SUBSCRIBING TO AUTODESK PRODUCTS Autodesk® software products are now only available by subscribing. Here are the five most-common myths about subscribing to Autodesk products: 1 “I won’t be able to use my perpetual license after 2016!” Existing perpetual Autodesk software licenses are still valid. You retain your perpetual software license and can continue to use it in accordance with your license agreement. If your Autodesk software is on a maintenance plan, you will also continue to receive maintenance benefits. For more details, please reference Perpetual License Changes. “I don’t want to connect to the internet every time I use an Autodesk product.” An internet connection is required to activate the software when you first subscribe. Autodesk products will then work offline for up to 30 days, at which point you must connect to the internet to refresh the license for up to another 30 days. You will receive a reminder seven days prior to having to reconnect. An internet connection is always required in order to access cloud services. 3 1 “All of my files and projects will automatically be saved to ‘the cloud.’ ” Files and projects created when you subscribe to an Autodesk software product are saved locally. You retain all of your local data even if you decide to no longer subscribe. Try the free Autodesk® A360 viewer to view your DWG files, and activate your Autodesk subscription if you wish to edit them. “I’m always going to be forced to run the newest version of my Autodesk product.” You get access to the latest version of your Autodesk product and all the latest updates, but you decide if and when you want to upgrade. As a subscriber, you even have access to certain previous software versions. For more details, please reference Autodesk Previous Version Rights Eligibility. 5 1 2 4 “I won’t have an option for networked licenses.” Autodesk is now offering an option that allows you to subscribe to an Autodesk product that allows multiple users to share networked licenses. This may also be an option if you need to use your Autodesk product but cannot be connected to the internet. Subscribers will receive benefits such as access to the latest software and previous versions, technical support, and Global Travel Rights.
