For audiophiles who demand the best: FS 607 X-JET Crystal-clear sound with perfect localization. This is the music experience that is offered with the new FS 607 X-JET! Even beyond the stereo triangle, the localization of voices is perfect. Precise sound can be provided by our new coaxial midrangetweeter driver system. Here, the amplitude and phase of the sound waves run linear and frequency-independent over the front solid angle of 180 degrees. The strength of this new coaxial unit lies in the frequency range between 500 – 4.000 Hz which is important for the reproduction and localization of voices and therefore, can be regarded as a point source. In comparison to conventional loudspeakers, point sources do not produce any phase rotation or an uneven frequency response of the midrange-tweeter driver. This results in excellent and precise localization. Another advantage of a point source is optimized sound power and homogeneous sound distribution in the listening-room over the entire listening area. The elegant 3 ½-way floorstanding speaker offers high resolution, precise localization, dynamics, crispy sound, perfect depth, a very pleasant spaciousness and a broad listening area.
Technical features and benefits •
Coaxial technology. The special feature of the FS 607 XJET is the new midrange-tweeter driver in coaxial design. The „X JET“ is a unique combination of a flat aluminium honeycomb midrange diaphragm and a concentrically arranged JET tweeter. • This loudspeaker approaches the ideal point source. The resulting sound radiation offers a new, relaxed and detailed reproduction. • The ultra lightweight honeycomb diaphragm provides a reduced stray magnetic field combined with a strong neodymium drive. • The system is driven by a 78 mm moving coil. Perfect efficiency is achieved using coppered aluminium flat wire, edgewise-wound, on a ventilated capton bobbin. • The new system yields a precise upper cut-off frequency of 50 kHz. This makes the loudspeaker an ideal component for the reproduction of DVD-A and SACD.
• Woofer in aluminium sandwich design. The two ELAC woofers with double rubber surround in asymmetrical design use ELACs aluminium sandwich technology. The 37 mm moving coil is wounded on a capton bobbin by means of heat-resistant wire. A homogeneous magnet field is created by means of magnets with ferrite rings that meet tight tolerances and that are produced in-house. All this results in very dry bass, optimum large signal behaviour and increased bass levels of up to 10 %, providing a precise cut-off frequency of 28 Hz.
• Cabinet in cross-frame hybrid technology. This special cabinet consists of a combination of extruded aluminium design, aluminium casting and MDF with horizontal and vertical internal tension rods. This new design concept offers optimized sound and avoids resonances. • Crossover network / ELAC bi-wiring teminal. The crossover network of this 3 ½-way loudspeaker is built with high quality components and Van den Hul internal wiring. The terminals, with gold-plated WBT connectors, are easy to access and allow larger cable diameters (16 mm²), as well as high-quality spade connectors. The terminals provide high-quality bi-wiring cable suspension bridges (Van den Hul wiring) with gold-plated banana plugs.
• ELAC spikes/rubber feet. As a standard, the FS 607 X-JET is offered with a base and new adjustable ELAC spikes/rubber feet and ELAC bass control.
Stereophonic sound or precise sound? This is the first time in ELAC history that there are two top models of loudspeakers at the same price, but in different designs of the tweeter/midrange drivers. The legendary 4 Pi tweeter is a 360 °omni-directional ribbon tweeter that sits atop the FS 608-4PI. Its impressive and silky sound quality gives rise to an airy and easy sound. However, the X-JET offers a brand-new way of precise and detailed sound reproduction and therefore, a new dimension of listening to music. Which type is more natural? What is better? The decision depends on your individual taste.
