Catch the D-TAR Wave New Wave-Length™ Pickup is Easy-to-Install For Immediate Release Santa Barbara, California – As an easy-to-install alternative to other acoustic guitar pickups, D-TAR announces the release of Wave-Length™, the new under-saddle pickup system that combines a thin, piezo transducer with an 18-volt, low-noise, high input impedance preamp. Wave-Length’s unitary full length pickup accommodates virtually all 6-string spacings and is compatible with guitars using either 1/8” or 3/32” saddles, often with no modification to the saddle slot. “The key here is ease of installation,” says Rick Turner, D-TAR principal and cofounder. Like D-TAR’s Timber-Line™ pickup, Wave-Length’s built-in preamp runs on 18-volts for twice the headroom and dynamic range of a typical 9-volt system. This means the player can strum extra hard without experiencing dreaded piezo “quackiness.” To derive the 18 volts, Wave-Length merely requires two standard “AA” batteries. The secret is a proprietary voltage power booster. The preamp has an input for a second source, like a magnetic pickup or a soundboard transducer. Two adjustable trim pots, one low frequency shelving and one high frequency shelving, allow the installer to fine tune and “set and forget” the bass and treble frequencies to optimize the Wave-Length for any instrument’s size and shape. The result is transparent amplification of the natural timbre of an acoustic guitar with minimal coloration. Includes _” jack (jack 6,35) and detailed installation instructions.
