HITACHI ANNOUNCES NEW 50-INCH PLASMA DISPLAY -- New Model Combines Exceptional Image Quality and Video Options for Presentation and Digital Signage Customers -LAS VEGAS, www.hitachi.com, June 11, 2002 – Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., Tokyo, Japan (NYSE: HIT), today introduced the CMP5000WXU, the newest addition to Hitachi’s plasma display family. The new model joins the 42-inch CMP4121HDU, now available with a silver bezel, and the high-definition 37-inch CMP307XU, providing a complete range of plasma displays for an array of presentation requirements. Ideal for conferences and show rooms, restaurant menu boards, retail stores and sports venues, the new product features a sleek design with a large 50-inch viewing area, and exceptional video quality. The CMP5000WXU will be demonstrated in conjunction with Hitachi’s full line of visual display products at InfoComm 2002 in Booth #7081 at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas from June 12 – 14, 2002.

Sophisticated color filters and high brightness ensure rich, natural colors for lifelike imaging. The 16:9 aspect ratio display is equipped with multiscan technology to automatically adjust to VGA, S-VGA, XGA, S-XGA or UXGA resolution for enhanced brightness and contrast. Sophisticated Chassis Design The CMP5000WXU features a slim design that is less than four inches thick, bringing a sophisticated look to any installation. The lightweight display is mountable virtually anywhere due to its 85-pound design and a variety of installation options. Optional Video Card To further meet the needs of Hitachi’s diverse customer base, the CMP5000WXU can be upgraded with an optional video card for enhanced video capabilities. With the video card, the CMP5000WXU is HDTV-ready and accepts composite, component and DVI-D video inputs, as well as additional audio inputs. This optional video card ensures the CMP5000WXU will continue to meet customers’ needs well into the future. The CMP5000WXU is priced at $15,995 and is now available through Hitachi’s network of authorized resellers.
