Drive line
Operator environment
Powerful new drive line with the new HST transmission produces high underlying traction force and extra muscle on hills and over obstacles. New, robust and maintenance-free drive shaft system. Powerful axle system and new bogie in robust construction of the portal type with the Comfort Bogie function produces the best combination of traction force and operator comfort. The crowning touch is the 780/28.5-inch wheel size – unique for the Komatsu 895. With the larger diameter, full traction force is in contact with the ground.
Noticeably larger cab – higher and wider with more legroom, more storage space and a quiet working environment. Large glass surfaces mean better visibility upwards and to the sides, and make crane operation easier and more relaxed. The new operator's seat provides excellent comfort and work space, and offers many personal adjustments and settings. The new hand controls are ergonomically designed and well equipped.
Additional benefits include cruise control, adjustment of hydrostatic gearing for power or speed (inch) and fuel-saving driving pedal settings.
Komatsu Comfort Ride Komatsu’s new cab suspension solution Comfort Ride is available as an option for your forwarder. With its superior suspension properties, it improves operator comfort, reduces fatigue and generally makes working more enjoyable, which can increase productivity. The four-point suspension with well-protected cylinders with extra long stoke makes Comfort Ride a winner in all categories. The Ride Height Control function means that the suspension can compensate for centre of gravity shifts on various gradients.

Control system
The new and powerful chassis, designed for a 20-ton forwarder, has a rear frame with a V-shaped bottom for easily managing obstacles. The new load space with the patented new FlexGate, which flexes if accidental contact is made with the crane, provides excellent visibility through the gate. The robust front blade can be lifted high for improved obstacle clearance. Serviceability is excellent, with easily accessible service points in the engine compartment and under the easily tilted cab. There are also service hatches under the front frame and the control cylinders are mounted on the outside for ease of access.
MaxiXplorer – with its simplicity, power and functionality – is one of the market's most outstanding control systems. The system gives you superior machine control. • Engine, transmission, crane, lighting, windshield wipers, etc. can be easily adjusted, fine-tuned and adapted to the operator's needs and preferences. • Integrated operational and production follow-up provides complete monitoring of machine performance. With Komatsu's new, cloud-based tool MaxiFleet, a machine owner can monitor machine operation via the Internet in near real-time. The crane is one of the forwarder's most essential components and is very important for productivity. We have kept this in mind with the new 165F, one of the market's most powerful cranes, with a high gross lifting and turning torque, and a weight-optimised linkage system that delivers high gross lifting force. It also has Protec, with shielded hose routing as standard, and new, split hose routing to the valve that improves ease of service. The new slewing assembly has a sturdy slewing housing and a reliable column solution.
