The switch, Figure 4 for the warning lamps is located on the instrument panel. The key switch is shown in Figure 5. Turning the key to the left will activate the cold~start aid. Turning the key to the right to the "on" position will activate the warning lights and instruments. Turn~ ing the key further right to the "start" position will start the engine. Upon release, the key will spring return to the "on" position. FLASHER WARNING LIGHT TAIL LAMP COOLANT LEVEL WARNING LIGHT -_s PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHT SLOW LATEST REFLECTO CHARGE PROOF - METER INDEICATOR WARNING LIGHT Figure 3 - Flasher Warning and Tail Lamp The light switch must be turned in one of the "ON" positions before the flasher will operate. For your protection, use the flasher warning lamp and the SMV emblem when traveling on public roads, day or night. LIGHT SWITCH The light switch, shown in Figure 4, is a dial type switch. T. O. lever are in neutral. Always check to make certain the transmission main shift lever and P. T. O. lever are in neutral before attempting to start the engine. Refer to page 14 for complete sta rti ng instructions. FLASHER \GD\-WARNING SWITCH F1005 Figure 4 - Combination Switch 7 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ OPERATION REAR WHEEL TREAD SETTINGS The rear wheels on the Ford 1720 are adjustable from 43.3 to 58.7 inches (110-149 cm). Tread width settings are made by changing the position of the rim with respect to the wheel disc. by changing the position of the wheel disc with respect to the axle. and by interchanging the rear rims from side to side. Turf tire tread settings are 49.8-52 inches. (126.5-132cm}.These various position are shown in Figure 35. NOTE: After changing the rear wheel tread setting. the wheel rim-to-disc nuts and the disc-toaxle nuts should be torqued to 137-159 Ibs. ft. (186-215 N.m).
