Loudspeaker System Recommendation Ft. Campbell Prepared for: Pragmatics, Inc. Application Engineering Renkus-Heinz, Inc. 8/5/2014 Contents Recommendation ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2-3 Equipment List ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4 EASE mappings -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5-6 Product Datasheets ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Following 8 Design Goals Renkus-Heinz has been asked to recommend a sound reinforcement system for Ft. Campbell. Our goals were to design a system that would produce speech naturally and intelligibly in a classroom setting. Of course this performance must be delivered evenly to all seats in the house. Room Details The room is about 47 feet wide, 118 feet deep with ceilings that go from about 12 feet high on the side walls to about 19 feet high in the center of the room. Recommended Loudspeaker System The recommended loudspeaker system is a pair of IC7-II’s. Mounting location The speakers are mounted about 16 feet away from the center of the room on the back wall about 9 feet high to the top of the box. They are angled about 3.5 degrees downward. Optional Subwoofers If low frequency energy is needed a single CFX12S will be sufficient. Understanding EASE Mappings in Appendix The system has been designed with the aid of EASE, Enhanced Acoustic Simulator for Engineers, a product of the Ahnert-Feistel Media Group, GmbH, Berlin, Germany. EASE is the international standard for sound-system design and prediction and has been proven accurate in thousands of successful sound system installations world-wide. For more on EASE and sound system prediction, please see AFMG’s website: http://ease.afmg.eu/ “System Coverage” maps show system coverage averaged over two octaves, at the frequency range indicated, of the seating areas at ear height. The mapping is predicted Direct Sound Pressure Level in dB. No room effects are included. These maps do not represent how loud the system will get, but rather consistency of coverage. The “Maximum SPL, A-Weighted” map shows the approximate maximum level the system would reach as shown on an SPL meter set to read broad band, A-weighted, fast. Important Disclaimer: All simulations have been done with industry standard techniques and software using information supplied by others. They are believed to be accurate within normal tolerances for such simulations providing the data supplied was accurate. Renkus-Heinz makes no guarantee that the final system will perform as simulated. Renkus-Heinz guarantees only that any Renkus-Heinz equipment will perform to its published specifications within normal industry tolerances. The above is a recommendation only and is not to be considered or represented as a design by RenkusHeinz. WARNING! Hanging loudspeakers is a serious undertaking that should be done only by qualified and experienced personnel. Check with an Architect or Structural Engineer to verify any building attachment points. Renkus-Heinz is not responsible for any non-Renkus-Heinz products or for any misuse of Renkus-Heinz 2 products. Thank you for the opportunity of making this recommendation. 3 Appendix 1, Equipment List Item RH Part Number Qty. But the high ceilings and reflective surfaces of institutional architecture produce long reverberation times, making it difficult for people to hear and communicate clearly. Iconyx arrays are the first sound systems that enable both effective communication and expressive musical artistry in these rooms. Iconyx does all of this without compromising the architectural statement of the building itself. The transparent design of Iconyx integrates high-performance acoustical components and advanced, audiophile-quality digital electronics in practical systems that virtually disappear in most buildings. IC7-II ICX7-II Self-Powered Non-Powered Transparent Solutions • Houses of Worship: traditional & modern • Transportation terminals: train stations, airports, etc. • Stadiums & arenas: lobbies & fore courts • Convention centers, warehouses, etc. • Museums: lobbies, galleries, etc. • Performing arts centers: vocal/orchestral “lift,” lobbies, etc. • Any highly reverberant environment where enjoyable music and/or intelligible speech are of primary importance. MUSICAL • INTELLIGIBLE • PRACTICAL Focused Acoustic Control The IC7-II & ICX7-II feature four traditional 4 inch woofers and three 4 inch coaxial transducers, each with three high-frequency devices. Configured in a modified Bessel configuration IC7-II produces a tightly focused acoustic beam that can be directed onto the audience and not onto the walls and ceiling, improving intelligibility in reverberant spaces. High-performance Coaxial Transducers Control is pointless unless the sound is accurate, natural and enjoyable. That’s why the Iconyx IC7-II and ICX7-II use advanced, purpose-designed coaxial transducers with 3 tweeters in an “array within an array’” design for high frequency reproduction. The design reduces the distance between high frequency sources and greatly improves high frequency performance while maintaining consistent broad horizontal dispersion. Flexibility The IC7-II is self-powered for convenience and flexibility; the ICX7-II is designed for use with external amplifiers. Both can be stacked for applications needing more power and control. Both are also available in weather resistant models suitable for outdoor installations. Stackable IC7-II and ICX7-II line arrays may be stacked two tall to provide even higher output and increased control. A single column provides a vertical dispersion of 30 degrees, stacking gives an additional 6dB output and a tight 15 degree beam. Class D Digital Amplifier IC7-II line arrays include a Class D digital power amplifier with loudspeaker-specific signal processing and protection against overload damage. Architecturally Transparent The tall, slim Iconyx enclosure is designed to be heard but not seen. It mounts flush to walls and columns, blending invisibly with almost any architectural style. © 2012 Renkus-Heinz Inc. reserves the right to change any product specification without prior notification.
