FT-FRXID-RM-SCAPC Indoor Fiber Optic Receiver Operation Manual http://www.fibertronixparts.com INSTALLATION AND OPERATION This symbol is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions. This symbol is intended to alert the user to the presence of “dangerous voltage” within the product’s enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electrical shock. CAUTION: To reduce the risk of electrical shock do not remove the cover or back of this unit. No user serviceable parts are inside. CAUTION: To prevent electric shocks and risk of fire hazards, do not use other than specified power source. CAUTION: To prevent electric shocks and risk of fire hazards, do not expose this equipment to rain or moisture. CAUTION: Pay attention to NEC articles 810-21, 820-22, and 820-40 that provide guidelines for proper grounding. CAUTION: This unit may emit harmful invisible laser radiation. Do not view directly any laser optical emissions. Viewing the laser with certain optical instruments such as a microscope of magnifier may pose an eye hazard. The laser is classified as a Class 1M per IEC/EN 60825-1/A2:2001 and complies with FDA/CDRH, 21 CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11 except for deviations pursuant to Laser Notice No.50 dated 26 July, 2001. 1. UNPACKING and HANDLING Each unit is shipped assembled and factory tested. Ensure that all accessories are removed from the container before discarding packing material 2. MECHANICAL INSPECTION Inspect the front and rear of the equipment for shipping damage. Make sure the equipment is clean, and no connectors are broken, damaged, or loose. If equipment appears to be damaged or defective please contact your distributor or Fibertronix at 1-610-429-1511 for assistance. 2 Description The FT-FRXID-RM-SCAPC is a state of the art rack mountable fiber optic receiver designed for fiber optic applications with an input frequency range of 47 to 860 MHz. This unit provides a high level of reliability with low noise, a high output level and excellent performance to price ratio. The automatic gain control (AGC) range is -6dBm~+1dBm providing a stable output level that remains within 0.5 dB. The FT-FRXID-RM-SCAPC has two RF outputs with an output level of 35 dBmV. The unit is contained in a rugged single rack space housing that is 19” rack mountable. A convenient -20dBmV test point is located on the front panel along with a digital input signal level display, equalization and attenuation controls. The back panel has an optical input along with two F connectors for the RF output. Unpacking Open box and inspect for damages. Locate the optical receiver, power cord, and user’s manual. 2. Mounting The FT-FRXID-RM-SCAPC is a rack mountable 1RU device. To ensure sufficient cooling, it is recommended to leave 1.75” spacing above and below device. 3. Making Connections Plug the power cord into the power supply socket and switch the power on. All optical connections to the FT-FRXID-RM-SCAPC are SC/APC connections. Be sure to clean all optical connectors before connection. Connect SC/APC connector to “OPT In” on the rear of the transmitter. 4 “RF OUT 1” and “RF OUT 2” may be connected to outside distribution via F-style connectors to coaxial cable. The -20dB “RF OUT TEST” is connected in the same fashion. 5
